You inspired me to also use a little dab of Levent

Today I'm getting a bitter scent, mixed with gasoline (reminds me of EO - Borneo 50k), rounded off with a delicious sweetness

Wearing it on skin is also a totally different experience compared to smelling from the vial

Totally different than my wear the other week, and it's amazing to see this transform each wear. I love this!
Word the changes are so rapid & apparent. Every visit it gets better & much smoother than the last.

Thank you, I think you actually did a great job. Right to the point, easy to understand and wrap my head around!

How ‘dominant’ is the ‘old book’ component, would you say? I have a few oils that have some ‘library’ scent.
No prob , thank you as well. I'd say not that dominant compared to something like Royal Sarawak & Meleka which have much more of a dominant old book nuance. If you're familiar with those you know what I mean.

Nha Trang from Fushigi

Def one of the thinnest and lightest oils I have tried from them. Viscosity is even a bit watery compared to the others. Aroma profile and experience is indeed similar to Nha Trang LTD from Ensar but this oil is for sure lacking the oomph, depth and lasting power of NTLTD. Of course it is 1/3 of the price as well, so I can live with it.

All that being said, the more time I spend with it, the more I am enjoying it and the more is opening up within the profile, despite never quite loving any Nha Trang oils I've tried before.

One thing I have noticed with many of this caliber of oil is that when I apply it on my hand and smell, I usually start to taste it quite noticeably and have the flavor of the oil in the back of my throat for some time. Not sure if it is from the smelling or simply my skin absorbing the oil, but it is something which has occurred many times with various oils like this.

exactly as what I concluded. thank you so much for sharing.
did you get any delicious almond note?

Lao Gold - AlHindOud. This stuff just makes me feel lucky to be honest. Lucky, honored and blessed. Opens with strong diesel and a bit of dankness like a Merauke but nothing like a Merauke if that makes sense? Sweet and incensey. The oil itself like a refined honey. Excellent projection. Have to ration this one.:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Jinkoh Store - Borneo Qi
@mesOUD - Qirose
@mesOUD - Dehn al oud Hindi Amjad

Last night I swiped Borneo Qi from Marius. Beautiful dry extra crispy clove spice. Peppery like but presenting much more of a honeyed vanilla sweetness recently.

This morning was a swipe of Qirose. Dripping wet minty herbs and rose bushes. Powerful cooling and medicinal note initial, jammy red and sugary rose later. This one is like being draped in the finest of roses, drenched in iodine, and sprinkled with sugar on top.

Swiping some Amjad tonight. I just can’t seem to get enough of traditional oils for bed. Something about being overpowered by the fumes of barnyard funk. Horse shit, leathery bitter cacao. Classic Hindus/Cambodi/Merauke and other loud oils really hit the spot like no other for the occasion. The pleasure of these cannot be described in text, but must be experienced.

A dab of "Sweet China" from Oriscent - this is a blend of borneo oud and the Chinese Exclusive, that I recall was made in response to some folks having difficulty with the challenging notes in the Chinese exclusive when it was fresh. It's kind of a strange mixture because the Borneo is so different from the Chinese - the oils smell good together but pull in different directions so the result is tamer but less engaging. Very pleasant oud blend, in this case i very much prefer the chinese exclusive in straight form.

The Chinese oil brings in all kinds of interesting earthy and mulch like notes, really reminds me of peat moss and gardening, and that aspect of the oil has always appealed to me. Whatever type of fermentation was used with this oil is my preferred type - very pleasant blend of woody and fermented notes.

A bottle of the "green kyara" oud oil from kyarashrine just arrived. I suppose this should really be called cultivated green kinam oil?

Part of my quest for budget oud for a "novice" level oud centered cologne. (FYI if a vendor here has a bead on this kind of budget oil, that would be amazing).

This is just straight up ck profile, very simple, pretty mobile, slightly minty, innocuous mild ck aroma. no ck "pitfalls" like salivary note, or sour wooden pungency, or dull co2 fuzz. No edge / spicy / peppery notes either.

Will report back on mid/base transition a bit later

You're correct on all accounts. You'll find a use for it, don't worry. For myself, I can't wear it as I do others but to put a dab on a piece of clothing is very nice and lasts for days but yeah don't expect anything mindblowing. I think I like it because I work outside and sweat a lot (smelly clothes) so it's nice to get a whiff of something sweet every now and then. It will work wonders also in blends also I believe.

Update on this: reminds me of one of the ck oils wardlab had sourced - his "cultivated kinam #1" for any of you who tried his oils. Nearly identical in fact, but take that with a grain of salt. I need more time to really be certain

no. 2 had a bit of swamp and pepper - fermented i guess but tastefully so. Thick like a co2 oil

no. 3 was like ejayb's first ck distillation - cassie, violet, wintergreen top notes
