@YusaAromatics - Nha Trang KO

SHEEESH! This has the deep antiseptic syrup richness of GE Hue with an added bitter note in the opening. I can’t quite say this has nearly the level of heavy acetone fumes of Hue, but a similar vibe at the top. Deeply red smelling initially, the unique bitterness was something I was really enjoying. About 20 minutes in it starts to brighten up as sugary sweetness begins to unfurl. A lot of similarities to Vietking here, seems like some good Nha Trang wood was used in both. Has quite a bit more “bite” than Vietking here, whereas VK to me comes off much louder on the pastry like sweetness. Not quite what I was expecting when I read about the bitterness of this wood though, seems like I’ll have to hunt down some more examples to try out😁

The sweetness to this one is perfect. It's so delicate & not overly sweet , immediate zen mode. I just can't get passed the nutty/bitterness unfortunately...

Gaharu Uno - Habzoud. Special oil for me - beautiful fresh and foresty oud, captures the best facets of balsam poplar forest air and has a lovely sweet custardy layer. Love this style /species (hirta) / region of oud due to the unique combination of foresty, aquatic, confectionery, ambergrisish and oceanic notes. Habz's description of the scent is spot-on if you are looking for more insightful comments on the various scent notes. I

Jinkoh Store - Emperor Maluku

This is gyrinops perfection. Opens with a more Sumatran style beachy like gasoline. I was told it might be closer to a Borneo, but the only Borneo I have of this quality is Borneo Qi. And that one is quite riddled with diesel and smoke so quite different than this.

This oil quickly shifts to a vaporous silani like gasoline. Mango skin and pungent banana peel. Smells like you took the gasoline oceanic punch of a silani and ran it through acetone fuses. Very much a sharp oil, smelling it hits you high up in the nostrils deep in the skull. Not much change throughout the wearing in the scent, but when’s it’s such a complex aroma I don’t mind much. I’m learning that I’m not the biggest fan of silanis and this style of gyrinops compared to other regions, but this is certainly a top notch distillation. Serious woods distilled with excellence.

I wore this today and picked up a lemon cheesecake note, not a note ive smelt alot in Ouds! Your mention of custard is spot on, ive found that creamy note also in Vietnamese oils.

SQ burmy 70'.
I know there are several batches of these Burmese oils from the 70s/80s produced by Sultan and I have tried many of them.
But the one I acquired from a collector in the Gulf is a very restful and meditative oil.

A deep, soothing and reassuring purple smoke.
The smell of wood heated on embers and a lightly beaten bottom.

Interesting! Gaharu Uno from Habzoud, On first 1 or 2 minutes I get more passion fruit cheesecake note it then fades, about 5 minutes later I get the slight lemon note appearing kinda like a silky lemon sherbet, about 30 minutes later a delicious cooling lovely slightly bitter note. I also pick ambergris, forest, slightly oceanic and the word mr p used which was confectionary note I can relate to, I definitely pick up a complex sweetness (very in balance). There is a silky oudy background that helps Hold all the notes together beautifully. I still feel I am only just getting to know this one but it is definitely real tasty!

N/A - Kyen

Just swiped on another of the oils that I don’t have too much info on. Kyen is apparently a grade of oud where the oil content is extremely saturated but no resin is produced? Or maybe this is an oil from Ensar by the name of Kren.

Either way the smell is what’s important. Initially I got some heavy Pursat or Thai fruity notes. They get sweeter and sweeter until there sugary cotton candy. There still a clear Pursat sour fruit shade to it but it’s lighter and sweeter. Not quite as sour funked, less orange and more of a peach cream smell. Such a delicious swipe, excited to see what the drydown has to offer.

I have been thinking about this one a fair bit so wore some today. I think it's a special one too. It has certain elements that I absolutely love at the moment.
