Sher Sha - An Najwa this is nothing like how I remember it smelling when I first received it as a sample many months ago. It's completely changed! I feel like I remember it being reasonably sweet but I could be completely incorrect. Anyway it's not sweet now that's for sure. Pretty strong actually and maybe not appropriate to wear grocery shopping which is what I did straight after applying. Smells kind of smoky, dry hay maybe black tea and resinous.
I can relate…Hindis I only wear when I'm staying in. Wonderful to study but not really for public consumption where I live I think!

you made one thing clear to the other people at the store mate, you aint messing about 😀 wearing those hindis in the world of fluffly florals and zesty citrus would have been definitely a head spinner (turner) hahaha

Mind you I shop in an area (Doomben) where they do a lot of horse racing so maybe not? 😄

Ouds of the daaaays
Life is getting busy but never too busy to swipe some oud

The Oud Lab - Papua 2003
Imperial Oud - Hainan Imperiale
Yusa - Murasaki
Yusa - Pursat Encense
Sulaym - Koh Kong 1444

Always grateful for being able to enjoy such a hobby!
I love TOL Papua 2003, that is a great representation of the region.
I'd love to hear your thoughts on that one as well : )

Enjoying the mesoud Vietking! Smells fantastic on the threads of the bottle - kind of vital, airy, woody, and kinamic. On skin tonight i am experiencing this as a warm and soothing scent, well rounded, no particular notes screaming for attention - mellow wood, sweet and sugary warm scent. Delicious

Malinau newly distilled
It starts with an overwhelming blueberry bubblegum. Loud, sweet, airy, sour and slightly resinous.
Then it calms down and rests like a typical Kalimantan oud, earthy and Smokey/incense with slight sweetness. Ok the dry down the smokiness tones down and honey sweetness comes back with beautiful red fruits, damp earth. Six hours after all I smell is bright floral sweetness and slight earth. One of the best oils I own for the price, i can easily buy it for triple the price and I’d be ok. I’ll be ordering more of it soon.

On a different note: does anyone else feel that ouds smell different sometimes? When I try an oud one day it smells different than the day before, not drastically, but sometimes more notes come through, sometimes the emotions and state it brings is different depending on how I’m feeling, depending on the weather and wether I’m tired or rested etc.

Mood plays a massive role in how your brain interprets scent absolutely. Also, I've noticed distinctive scent change depending on what kind of activity I've been involved in during the day. It will smell different if I've just been sitting around as opposed to if I've been out exercising or exerting myself.

Exactly! Especially hunger and exercise. My nose is more sensitive when I’m hungry, and an hour after cardio

the writing of this oil is a bit exaggerated. I can see it is a good oil but not to be compared to Oud Ahmed at all.
other thing is the price point, 2,5k$ for this one is another exaggeration. starts with purple floral notes and dried fruits, a bit sweet but not overwhelmingly. it has some sort of nice fruity notes in the heart that is very unique, never encountered something similar, like a citrusy and orange notes, if that part extended a little with the antique wood smell that would be amazing and extremely unique.
in the drydown there is a dry wood smell with a slight petrichor notes similar to brunei oils and also to the drydown of white kinam.
overall nice oil, especially if priced around 1,5k$ or less.

**update:
this could be my most complimented oud oil ever lol bear in mind I used a very tiny amount.
one friend told me you smell like you got fumigated with oud, that was after 4 hours of wearing. another one said you smell amazing. a third friend asks me what I'm wearing after about 9+ hours.
I've overcome the idea of complimented attar or perfumes, but I think this worth mentioning.

Kyarashrine green kinam oil making me happy. I know the $1500+ gems are stellar but thank goodness for budget oud like this for daily use. Really nice oil for the price

Gift from a friend, he calls the mix “Over” as in “too much”. It’s a mixture of two ouds, one north of Thailand and one south. The reason it’s “too much” is because he somehow figured out how to bring all oud flavors in a mix of only two.

Out of the bottle it smells heavy barnyard and when swiped this is what you're welcomed with, then as you're smelling it turns rainforest, then cloying sweet, then rose, then sweet melons, then earthy and dry, then fecal. Its fascinating.
its two ouds only, one from north Thailand, fermented and aged. and one Prachin from the south. He said he tried to add a sweet trad oud but it made it somehow very strong on the barnyard. So he settled on this. Amazing stuff, great for the winter.
