going thru my Maunamoku collection. today's lucky pick was Kedah Soilwood!
this is a very ethereal feeling oil. you only catch it in small glimpses, but its fine silvery grey leather and bright cola... this one you'll want to keep smelling on your wrist even with people looking at you weird 😀

This Maluku oil is something else. I can only imagine the grade of material used for this beautiful creation.

Description is pretty spot on. The opening is similar to some of the high grade borneo oils; piercing, ethereal. The transition from top to middle phase is extremely beautiful with prominent Iris note. There’s also tangy and bitter aspect to this oil as it’s still young but very enjoyable. There is a unique sweetness in the background which is signature of Maluku region that bounds perfectly with Iris note. The words can’t do justice to this oil but only the experience can.

Indeed a wonderful oil to have in your collection. Can’t wait to see how this oil develops. Thanks brother Mehmet. Great Job!

Sample of Mesoud's Anas arrived today - forming my first impressions now. First Maluku for me as far as i know. Nice rich scent - i get a variety of intersecting scent layers brining old papua oils to mind, and also youthful gaharu; i get wafts of rich / mature / ripe oud notes that I associate with some of my finer oils. At one point i perceived a richness almost akin to vetiver. At the moment i am not picking up on the floral aspects but my nose is fatigued here after a long day.

This is a first impression - my perception of this will change over the next couple of weeks as the oil matures and I tune in to its finer nuance. I will share any new observations as I have them.

Fuck me! Mehmet has knocked it out of the park again🤪 Apologies for being M.I.A, but this oil has forced me to crawl out of my tea den. I’ll quickly note that the presentation is out of this world. The silver is just unreal to hold, weighty. A crown fit for a king of an oil.

Underneath the immaculate presentation is an oil that shines just as bright as the metal it adorns. It’s young and untamed, roaring and acrid dry note telling me it has room to mature. The florals are acrid, they’re powdery and soapy. Green violet leaf and maybe a musky note? I’m a little rusty at describing notes, so pardon the short description. I have to go study this oil some more

JazekAllah brother
I'm very proud to hear these beautiful words from someone like you, who has wood cuts in his hands 😂 and knows what distillation means.

Oud Ahmad by EO
from the first minute I smelled Oud Ahmad I knew that I have to have it. Oud Ahmad is a statement rather than an oud oil, it's a definition of an era and area, and to me it's one of the best aromatic experience I ever had.
no previous oil has done anything similar to this oil, it gave me a big smile and uplifting mood, also it makes me fully understand how precious this oil. as a friend told me before it is a sexy oud oil, now I can see that.
from the somehow green slightly incensy opening, to red purple floral musky heart, till the woody drydown, what a journey!
I need to study this oil to bone, more detailed review to come.

A bit of "economy Lao" oil from olefaktory / ejayb. This has improved since I purchased it i think! This one had some kind of pungent insectoid notes that grossed me out a bit when i got it, but tonight it's smelling nice and balsamic. The oil has always had a dry down I find beautiful. i used to put a dab somewhere where I wouldn't smell it up close (because of the pungent notes) but it seems to be better now. Didn't really have much expectation for it to improve

Hello to all my friends here after a long absence. I needed some time away as the temptation of buying new oils & woods was getting the better of me. I’m currently in a far more controlled state of mind.

A lovely sunny Saturday morning here in Melbourne. I have a piece of Shawq - ASO on the sub while wearing a swipe of Asiki Boven 2022 - Rising Phoenix. After owning AB for 18 months or so, it’s aging wonderfully. Some of the sharp edges have rounded off, while also retaining its piecing kaleidoscopic vivid green & floral character. The pitch black Papuan resin note has deepened, appearing sweeter, more dense & ripe. While this oil has the signature Papuan darkness, there’s a creamy white Santal like facet hiding in the background. Very enjoyable!
