Hello to all my friends here after a long absence. I needed some time away as the temptation of buying new oils & woods was getting the better of me. I’m currently in a far more controlled state of mind.

A lovely sunny Saturday morning here in Melbourne. I have a piece of Shawq - ASO on the sub while wearing a swipe of Asiki Boven 2022 - Rising Phoenix. After owning AB for 18 months or so, it’s aging wonderfully. Some of the sharp edges have rounded off, while also retaining its piecing kaleidoscopic vivid green & floral character. The pitch black Papuan resin note has deepened, appearing sweeter, more dense & ripe. While this oil has the signature Papuan darkness, there’s a creamy white Santal like facet hiding in the background. Very enjoyable!
Was wondering where you went? Welcome back!

Another swipe of ejayb's economy lao. This from a bottle with a fair amount of air space so perhaps slightly accelerated oxidation. So much more pleasant than when I first got it. Nothing spectacular but clean very pleasant and with a dry down that brings cambodi wood and kinam to my mind. There is some new elevated exalted note that I didn't notice any of the previous times that I've worn this. Can't quite make the association but it is reminding me of something.

I paid about $20/g for this - a crazy good deal

This Maluku oil is something else. I can only imagine the grade of material used for this beautiful creation.

Description is pretty spot on. The opening is similar to some of the high grade borneo oils; piercing, ethereal. The transition from top to middle phase is extremely beautiful with prominent Iris note. There’s also tangy and bitter aspect to this oil as it’s still young but very enjoyable. There is a unique sweetness in the background which is signature of Maluku region that bounds perfectly with Iris note. The words can’t do justice to this oil but only the experience can.

Indeed a wonderful oil to have in your collection. Can’t wait to see how this oil develops. Thanks brother Mehmet. Great Job!

Agree 100.

After letting it sit for a few days, I finally tried it. It really does need to be experienced as words do not do it justice.
It has certain qualities that I recognize in ultra high grade distillations. It's young but already so powerful, tenacious and complex. Beautifully textured and multifaceted (purple) florals and oudy incense. Sweet, joyful and euphoric.

Well done brother Mehmet on another gem and thank you.

Very well said - one thing I’d take a little further is that Mehmets distillations are ultra high grade - the difference is that what ensar sold in the earlier days is more like a legendary story hence we are awestruck by it at times - Mehmat’s distillations are happening infront of from A to Z so they hold more value in my eyes.

Great artist !

Agreed as well , you can say anything & everything about this oil but words just won't do it justice.

This oil is legit like a perfume. There's a very noticeable transition from the top to mid & base which is uncommon even with new gens imho. As I was telling brother @Obada earlier you can feel/smell it shifting as it transitions from one stage to the next very clearly & it does it in such a way it's hard to put into words. I keep saying this over & over but I still can't wrap my head around how young it is. Anyway this oil is just phenomenal. It instantly took my #1 spot for Mehmet's artisanal oils & I think it will stay that way for a while.

Agreed.

Each time I wear it I keep thinking I must have been heating maluku wood because of the ambient aroma in my apartment but then I remember I put on the oil 😂

Well with all this talk about Anas i had to swipe me some Anas. yesterday I felt like the second half of its performance was excellent, long lasting and weaving it's scent through the other things experienced throughout the day. Smells different each time I smell it, today I'm appreciating some especially nice smooth sweet syrupy oudy goodness layered with a slightly tangy pungency, a powdery sweet layer that i think is what is being described as purple flowers. Tasty oud. I also get vetiver (which has something in common with orris) and I think the note some describe as iris / orris is possibly the same note. I appreciate you all sharing your detailed observations - bursts of reviews like this provides a real opportunity for us to see how well our perceptions of fragrance align.

Finally someone agrees with me on honey/syrupy warm sweetness. Glad you finally got familiar with the purple note , powdery Iris for sure. There's def deeper colored purples out there especially the fruity ones like fig , dates , plums , raisins , etc. Anas's purple Iris will def deepen in color eventually it's just a few shades lighter but of course that's expected due to it's age.

I still don't understand the purple reference because I don't perceive vetiver or iris as purple... it doesn't matter though - it's just good to know what people are talking about.

Going forward I will assume that when someone says purple it means something like vetiver or orris root. do people call it purple because there are purple colored irises out there?

My brief take on Anas ( soon to be followed by a more comprehensive review )

This oil is smooth as silk - it’s round and deep. The seram profile envoleped in thick orris with rich fruity notes is beautiful displayed here. Purple is color of imagination, magic and creativity and if that’s exactly what my senses feels with this one. It is floral and rich.

SubhanAllah and Alhumdolillah - great work brother @mesOUD
