Alhashimi - Sri Pada 2021
Wow! Beautiful floral tropical opening. Full with floral and tropical aromas from exotic fruits (Maracuja, Mango) to bright colorful flowers (red, white and yellow flowers) on a bed of soothing heated resin. The florals are more pronounced than in other sri lankan oils I tried.
New gen sri lanka the way I love it!

The OudLab - Tai-O
A classical golf style oud oil, yet free from funk. Opens with a bright profile, fermented fruits, jammy sweetness and cambodian fusion. It has similar nuances to the Kangiiten Thaqeel oud oil but this is more of an earthy, leathery profile and not an overly sweet oud like the Thaqeel.

Tai-O is fantastic, a steal for the price, also. It wears very nicely neat on skin, but I can imagine how good it would be used as a main material in an attar composition.
I was convinced it was Cambodian until AT informed me it was in fact Thai. The dark rich fruitiness sitting on top of that leathery musky resinous Oud screams Cambodi, but it just goes to show you how good Thai Oud can be when treated respectfully.

Honestly, I get a little more funk than you, it sits right on the boarder line of where I want my Crassna oils to be in regard to fermentation.

Sri Pada sounds lovely, I need more Sri Lankan oils in my collection.

I agree
Maybe my funk-o-meter is not as sensitive because I enjoy barny oud oils. It is a bit funky but not animalic or unpleasent for an ouddict. For a non ouddict, it is definitely funky and too much

This with some affordable musk would make a very good daily attar 😋

A good sri lankan is as beautiful as it gets in the oud scent spectrum 💐🥭🍐🍉

Haha ‘funk-o-meter’ made me laugh. I have weird relationship with fermentation, I adore traditional Indian Oud (it’s my favourite region & style). I don’t enjoy new gen Hindi’s that much, while I can appreciate them, I require the lactic fermentation because it somehow transforms the base note into that sweet addictive resinous leather dry down. I don’t get this note without the traditional fermentation?
Lactic fermentation in Crassna oils, for whatever reason I can’t agree with. To my nose, it interfers too much with the glorious fruity floral profile Crassna wood exhibits.

And yes, I agree. In regard to pristine pure beauty, Sri Lankan oils are the pinnacle!

So at the end of the day here i am thinking about the @habzoud sabah oil i applied earlier in the day. I am pretty sure that oil is the source of the sweet mulchy ambergris notes i was surrounded by all afternoon - suuuuper pleasant. Wish i could use oils of this caliber in my fragrances... Some day.

After work swipe of Nusantara - Al Shareef Oudh. Another masterpiece from ASO, a beautifully dark & regal representation of Indonesian Oud like only ASO can achieve. I see black & gold when smelling his distillations in this style, austere yet Royal & highly refined.
Oceanic, mint, tropical humid air, dry incensey woods, warm spices, sitting on top of the most glorious resinous deeply Oudy base recalling dates, dried fruits, vanilla.

There is something ancient & mysterious within the profile of high quality Indonesian Oud.

I had to look that one up as I hadn't read about it before. Interestingly the first thing that came up in a search was that Nusantara is also the name of the new Indonesian capital in Borneo. They're carving a whole new city straight out of the jungle. Us humans deserve everything the world is going to throw at us.

A swipe of @Habz786 "Sabah New" is
my oud of the day. Nice rich indonesian gaharu. to my nose it has some saturated sugary and custardy facets, cinnamon and some light toasted confectionery notes, a hint of bitter almond or something like it, wafts of pine resin/wood and is something that could be appreciated by the noses of those not accustomed to oud. Like zamrad II, this presents really sophisticated notes and multilayered appealing complexity without barn or cheese or swamp (as far as i can smell). I don't know how new this oil is literally, it does have some traces of notes that I think reflects recent distillation but they're pretty mild. Seems like the kind of material that could develop into some kind of insane elixir over 10 years or 15 years - when I smell some of these yummy really balanced and striking new oils I can't help but wonder if I'm experiencing the infancy of an oud prodigy. On my phone, the oil pic looks less green than it does in person

I believe this is Malaysian gaharu

When did he release this one? I haven't heard of it before?

That is the case! The smell had me thinking it was Indonesian and I had forgotten where Sabah was!

Ceylon Sapphire - Tabeer Oud
A usual Sri Lankan oil that I’ve been very fond of for several years! It’s an complex wearing experience which twists & turns in many directions.

Starts off with an atypical slightly soaked / smoky note, ambery, ripe fruits & warm spices before the Walla Patta signature emerges gracefully with its cool oceanic, petrichor, earthy, ambergris, white floral, dry woody incense character, all while retaining this gorgeous aged resinous sweetness.

I usually apply 2-3 generous drops into my palm & wipe it through my beard & over my clothing, it lasts all day fragrantly wafting a beautiful sillage. A really great oil for my tastes.
