I love TOL Papua 2003, that is a great representation of the region.
I'd love to hear your thoughts on that one as well : )
Yea I agree 💯
I would say its: Fresh airy, green, sweet, fresh cut grass & lemon (no bitterness), zesty earthy, incensy and leathery oudy profile later on
You will sniff it & know its a high quality new gen Papua oil.
Green smelling oils arent my style of ouds but I appreciate the quality 💚
I am trying and testing out more oud oils with green aromas to see, if I would change my mind 😁

Malinau newly distilled
It starts with an overwhelming blueberry bubblegum. Loud, sweet, airy, sour and slightly resinous.
Then it calms down and rests like a typical Kalimantan oud, earthy and Smokey/incense with slight sweetness. Ok the dry down the smokiness tones down and honey sweetness comes back with beautiful red fruits, damp earth. Six hours after all I smell is bright floral sweetness and slight earth. One of the best oils I own for the price, i can easily buy it for triple the price and I’d be ok. I’ll be ordering more of it soon.

On a different note: does anyone else feel that ouds smell different sometimes? When I try an oud one day it smells different than the day before, not drastically, but sometimes more notes come through, sometimes the emotions and state it brings is different depending on how I’m feeling, depending on the weather and wether I’m tired or rested etc.

I definitely find that oud and other oils hit quite differently depending on the context in which they are smelled. humidity, air exchange, exposure to other oils earlier in the day all have a big influence.

I also find my perception changes somewhat progressively as I become more and more familiar with the different facets of an oil until at some point I kind of understand all of its different faces at which point I perceive it in a more unified way.

Habzoud Gaharu uno, smelling slightly different every time I take a whiff. Very nice oud - a bit of petrichor, nice resinous gaharu tang, caramelized sugar... good gaharu!!

you feel the sweetness in the back of your throat with this one. just a small waft fills the sinuses with candied oud!

very clean, this one.

Fellow vendor @RisingPhoenix’s Naganchi. Ferocious and beautiful. I have many wonderful memories encapsulated with this oud.

One of my favorites! It’s been aging for about a year; the longer I have it on hand the more I am tempted to keep it in my private collection.

the writing of this oil is a bit exaggerated. I can see it is a good oil but not to be compared to Oud Ahmed at all.
other thing is the price point, 2,5k$ for this one is another exaggeration. starts with purple floral notes and dried fruits, a bit sweet but not overwhelmingly. it has some sort of nice fruity notes in the heart that is very unique, never encountered something similar, like a citrusy and orange notes, if that part extended a little with the antique wood smell that would be amazing and extremely unique.
in the drydown there is a dry wood smell with a slight petrichor notes similar to brunei oils and also to the drydown of white kinam.
overall nice oil, especially if priced around 1,5k$ or less.

**update:
this could be my most complimented oud oil ever lol bear in mind I used a very tiny amount.
one friend told me you smell like you got fumigated with oud, that was after 4 hours of wearing. another one said you smell amazing. a third friend asks me what I'm wearing after about 9+ hours.
I've overcome the idea of complimented attar or perfumes, but I think this worth mentioning.

Aside of the oud oil, how do you apply oud so that you got good projection and longevity ?

Fresh distillation trad oud oil bought locally + a couple grains of Siberian musk grains.
Very playful mix, very sweet, fruity, bright and powdery from the musk.
So far I have never been disappointed from adding musk grains in anything. It has reliably boosted and improved everything I mixed it with.
On another note has anyone heard from NinjaRobb? He’s been awfully quiet these days.
