Firdous (Sri Lanka) from @Al-Hind Oud is a treat, wow!! My credibility is kind of on the line here because I've had a chance to smell several things this last couple of weeks that are as balanced and appealing and deep and surprising as pretty much anything in my stash. Basically, stuff at a tier where better and worse and best become meaningless and it is all just a matter of different delightful notes and layers all of which are excellent. I cannot believe the stuff you all are digging up and producing these days it's just a shocker…

Anyway this is another one that makes it a challenge for me to curb my enthusiasm. So much good stuff going on in this oil... deep syrupy ultimately oudy, balsamic, woody resinous, enticing all the way from top to bottom.

I always see this one being described a fruity Silani with no mention of florals. Have you had the same experience ?

[Ouddict.com] Oud of the Day

Trat B by Laddawan. Starts off with a tutti frutti scent that quickly transforms into sour sweet white flowers and a slight sawdust, and has a resin note that comes and goes. The most interesting to me is the dry down, it almost smells like the very end of a musk maceration dry down on the skin, with its subtle sweetness and even a little leathery. My anosmia isn’t helping here but this is the best description I could give. It does have a nice character by itself but this would be good in blends, especially knowing how relatively cheap it is.

I will get back to you after I wear it again. Haven't smelled enough Sri Lankan oud to give a comparison between this and what may be typical for the region.

EO KYARA DE KALBAR (Brunei) :
This tale starts off really woody.
Like a really old book in a library, so old that it‘s starting to turn into dust, which even happens as the story progresses :
Dusty-powdery-floral purple clouds envelop the sky, drops of sweet fruit juices start to rain. They land on the bitter-green ground, right next to the leather factory, where everyone is having a warm, sweet & creamy Mysore-milk drink harvested from grassfed musk-cows.
What a beautiful & interesting tale this was, I can sleep & dream well now.
I hope my wallet won‘t ever wake me up.
Have a good night. 😴

I apologise. Was I not wearing oud? As far as I'm aware, I was.
No need to apologize I'm just letting you know for the future. & yes those attars contain oud but they're blends it's not pure oud. There's a bunch of different threads for certain things in this forum. "Oud of the day" in particular is just for oud oil. "Attar/Mukhallat of the Day" is the thread for you're looking for.

Thank you for educating me. I'm fairly new to oud and the community and still figuring out how to use this site😂. I appreciate it

Silani Qadeem by TOL @AbuTominaga (unreleased)
Wow! you can feel the Qadeem oomph from the first minute. No much of top notes here, you will be greeted with what we know as heart notes, floral, clean oceanic notes with slight green notes in the background. On the drydown be prepared for a thick resinous woody journey, like opening a box filled with only resinous sinking Silani pieces. this oil is like no other Silani oud and I'm not a big Silani lover at all, but this is the best Silani oud I have smelled to date.
well done brother!!

@Al-Hind Oud Firdous 1 is really a rich one, and undergoes quite a dramatic and pleasing transformation over time. A very addicting scent - I put a swipe on a few minutes ago and can't stop sniffing my wrist.

1987 Dhansiri Ateek from Rising! got a couple drops in a sample... i decided to wear a small swipe because ive been searching for a barnyard oud, and this one is kinda scratching that itch. its vinaigrette barnyard due to its age, so its got a lot going on. friggin outstanding oil.
Interesting you should mention vinaigrette. There's a section in many of the old perfume books dedicated to fragrant vinegars and smelling salts (ammonia brain freeze smelling salts but loaded with perfume, contained in a specially prepared box. The recipes sound intense - must have been quite the experience.
