Modhesh - Al Shareef Oudh.

An after work Friday night swipe. Recently, I’ve been craving these dark, incensey Indonesian oils. Modhesh has been a good friend to me all year, at certain times it’s my daily swiper, applying it 5+ times at week.
Although it’s best experienced in cold winter weather, when the dark spicy leather note truly comes alive, I’m happy to wear it whenever as indicated by the large dent!

Similar to Maroke Qadeem - Habzoud, it displays a wonderful contrast of both warm & cool tones, although Modhesh is the darker of the two. Vaporous green jungle camphor, a vivid abundance of warm spices (aniseed, clove, nutmeg, cinnamon), Bakhoor smoke, dark black shiny leather, oceanic-mineralic tones, conifer & a huge resinous Oudy punch!
Because the oil originates from Malinau, you also get the signature rounded elegant berry, vanilla, sandalwood nuance in the background adding to the complexity of the profile.

Modhesh is an oil I like to wear as if a perfume, I apply a generous amount on my clothing, beard & hair, it’s lasts very well with a great projection. A dignified, regal aroma.

Srimango 🥭 from yusa

Opens up with an oceanic, almost ambergris like scent mixed with tropical fruits then dries down into a sweet, resinous oud. Blows my mind, just a beautiful scent! This is my first sri Lankan oud but certainly won't be my last.
Sri Lankan Oud is perhaps the most beautiful, pretty, attractive profile. The oceanic, tropical fruit, minty, petrichor tonality of Walla Patta is mind blowing!

I’ve heard Srimango from Yusa is amazing, I know Obada is a lover of this oil, also. If it does smell like mango I’d be in heaven, as it’s my favourite fruit & during summer I’ve been known to eat 10 per week! 😂

Just a heads up, Oudimentary is one of the respected OG Oud vendors, I’d consider changing your name out of a sign of respect 🫡

Received my sampler from @Habz786 tonight. Many thanks! I smelled a few from the dipsticks and chose to put a small dot of gaharu uno on my shirt sleeve. Getting a very nice cooling note and some sweet spices off the top. Small amount of earthy leather undertone.

This sample set will keep me busy for quite a while and I can tell will be a real treat.
Sounds great

Agreed that "Oudimentary" is not a good choice unless this is you:

@SULAYM HM Royal Hindi Meghalaya 1970's is my morning swipe here. There was just enough residue in the bottom to get a little dab on the dipstick, so this is a very oxidized sample and I imagine it smells different now than it did when it first arrived. This tiny dab gave a pleasant balanced traditional hindi vibe and I get a sense of soapiness that I associate with high end pure ouds. I have other base note rich materials on my skin so I can't comment in much detail. My main impression is of a rich mature agallocha with a somewhay agrestic but still very dignified profile. Some nice resin and chocolate type notes in there...

Hello Ouddicts, i hope you are all well 😊

Vietking 🍒 🍭🍪🍈🍍

It’s like Anis star was stolen on the night dress of the sky and putted in a Glass jar infused with licorice candy … and the icing on the cake … Griottes Cherry 🍒

The sweetness and the bitterness are very well balanced ! Vanillic nougatine, shadow of pineapples and Melon !
I’ve never smelled such top notes in any Viet oils … never !
I remember the Very berry Thaï Cherry from EjayB that I love
Vietking is 4k Version of it … better Accuracy in the top notes without any green notes or powdery bitterness… it’s more rounded , refined , with a crystal clear preciseness !

It’s an amazing oil honestly… I am impressed by the top notes !!
Kinamic at the most point !!!
It remind me GENT with The highest notes flying around !
The dry down of this oil is very Kinamic also …
I catch that typical Viet clean light leathery note a la Vietnan Special k !!
But again the licorice scent is unbelievable…
The cherry flavor is unmistakable…

It’s very different than KKN or NTLTD…
Less powdery, more sweet !

This oil smell Red to my nose … 🍒
I remember EO Kinam rouge … nothing like Vietking … but this oils should be called Kinam Rouge maybe ^^

Here I have experienced one of the best Viet oil ever …
It’s deeply hard to explain what is happening with this juice at the moment your nose kissing it …
It’s an experience, an adventure…

Vietking, EOC, Kanbi Koh are the cleanest sweet oils I have ever smelled … it’s like they distilled something else than usual Oud 🤣 If Subitism didn’t existed to understand what are Top notes in Agarwood…
If someone use to burning Oud in charcoal, he would be able to swearing it’s not Oud …

The best thing to do is to get Subitism, good quality wood from different species of aquilaria and starting a session with tiny swipe of an oil from same species …

Vietking got some of ultra top notes of Wild Kyara I don’t saying that to makes people want to buy it cuz it’s sold out even for me 😓 it’s just the truth I am feeling and after tried few different « kinam oil »
Here is the most accurate oil of Wild Kyara in terms of notes at least !

I am very curious to know if someone tried Vietking and also get wild kyara to compare it …
I did … and it is very close sincerely

I wish you all a very Gooud Day Ouddicts 💚
I really enjoy your write ups 🙂

Today is Begum by MesOUD
I feel very grateful to have had a chance to sample this one and it is a precious oil to me for a few reasons. I can definitively detect the rose. It gives the Hindi great complexity and both have a harmonious dance with the rose taking back stage as the oil progresses and dries down. Pristine clean, with fruits, florals, menthol like notes and woods. It is very complex and I feel it will reveal its beauty and secrets even more as it ages.

AA’s Tokusen Thai

This is what every Thai oil should smell like. It has that top note that seems to be present in every high quality, high grade, old stock Agarwood. I can’t describe it but it’s like an ancient woods/earthy/peppery/Agarwood chip kind of smell. Like when you put your nose in a bag of sinking grade Agarwood chips.

It’s a bitter, slightly Smokey, full on incense and resin kind of oil. If there’s a better Thai I’d love to know because this one is truly remarkable. Lao Shan is close imo although the classical style of Lao Shan takes away from the pristine beauty of the oil and I feel like Tokusen Thai still has a musky quality that keeps it from being new Gen.

EO’s Sultan Abdul Aziz:

If purple Oud resin, ancient Agarwood forests, earthy cacao, fresh florals, Kinamic blue notes and an aquamarine flair were all wrapped up in an Oud oil from PNG it would smell like this. I truly feel like this is one of the best oils I’ve ever smelled.

Another possibility could be that the temperature and Humidity is having an effect. Humidity in particular tends to mute my oils so I am more selective when I wear them unless I know I will be in air-conditioning for most of the day.
It is very humid here in Brisbane right now. 33 degrees and 75% humidity. Ain't nice. I'll give it a rest as I've received my bottle of Al NAMIR - Habzoud. Clean and oceanic are the two words that come to mind with this Filipino oil. @Habz786 you can do no wrong brother. Just stunning.

Accidentally spilled a whole boatload of Oud Ehab 2 on my skin so I guess this is what I’m wearing today.

Not my first choice either. I just wanted to open the v-vial and smell the cap but somehow I spilled probably 5 or 6 swipes worth on my skin. This oil sucks now that I’ve been wearing Sultan Abdul Aziz all the time.

One of my favourite oils by far, although I think its a mukhallat/attar
Does the addition of musk and ambergris make it so? I don't follow the Mukhallat/attar of the day thread so am ignorant of what actually makes an oil blend an attar. Happy for people to educate me.

Anything that includes more than one ingredient is no longer a pure oud and doesn't really belong in this thread, but some are on the line because they simply contain one other ingredient to compliment the oud. I posted in the Attar/Muk thread earlier and I considered putting it in the oud of the day thread because it was just one of my favorite oud oils enhanced with rose. The first ever comment in the Attar thread actually says "attars/mukhallats/blends", implying that any blend should go there.

But to me, oud is the star of the show, so it somewhat makes sense to put it here. I would think about it as oud enhanced by ambergris rather than a full perfume. So maybe it technically belongs in the other thread but I feel like the spirit of a blend like that means it belongs in this thread.

I think of it more as who I would like to tell about this thing. Who is likely to be more interested in an oud/ambergris blend? The people who look at the attar thread or the people who look at the pure oud thread? By that standard I actually think that it belongs here because people who are only into full perfumes are not likely to be interested, but people who like pure oud are not unlikely to venture out slightly and go for an oud/ambergris blend.
Hmm..great answer and definitely food for thought. I know lots of people were really into Oud Said and now that Oud Said has been transformed into this whole new beauty by the addition of musk and ambergris would love this even more if they didn't already know about it (which would surprise me if they didn't). But yes, as you say it is no longer just oud. It was never a pure oud anyway I guess as it was already a blend of two ouds.

A blend of two ouds is still an Oud oil. It’s only when you add materials that aren’t Oud into the mix that it becomes a blend/Mulkullat/Attar.
