Just landed:

Al taaj and raja hijau 2 from Habz.

First impressions are good, I can see why these oils have gotten so much praise here.

To my understanding both are still a bit young so I can imagine they will get even a bit better over time. Same with the fili oil I got from him that I can’t recall the name of.

Good oils which punch well above their price point. What Habz is doing reminds me of the old days when both AA and EO were constantly releasing high quality oils. Habz just seems to be on a roll the last year and continues to release oils like this, hopefully it continues.
Totally agree. I recently received Al Taaj, Raja Hijau 2, Sultan Hijau, Al Namir(fili, sold out). All are top notch oils, each one telling a different story and the dry downs are so mesmerizing.

Maroke Qadeem is about to reach In Sha Allah. I have sampled this and this is a spot on awesome maroke.

I just love the quality and style of @Habz786

I think I will try to create a communal map that anyone can add to. It won’t be entirely accurate, but it will be better than nothing.

This sounds like an amazing idea. Let me know if you want some help.

Fushigi - Pursat Kyara

Medicinal & antiseptic, slightly sweet & spicy. I wish this was stronger. I’m starting to think that these clean distillations are not compatible with my skin 🙁

Another note, can anyone recommend a good cambodi that’s not overly fruity?

I think the Pursat oils are generally quite fruity and Northern Cambodia oils from some reap etc have a different profile. More green and sort of medicinal to my nose. Just a completely different category to my nose.

RPP 1949 Taksang Ateeq

It’s been a while that I’ve had a chance to sit and reflect on an oil like this one. It’s the first one for 2025.
Distilled almost 80 years ago, I was anticipating a mellowed down oil with waning top notes and complex resinous base. But, the oil astonishingly has pristine, still very much alive ethereal top notes.

This oil reminded me of some old classic Assamese oils, as if they were cousins so to say.

The oil oscillates between slightly sweet, chocolaty, milky nuttiness to being earthy in a peculiar way. Hints of green leather, perhaps. There is no vanilla, no jam, no berries. Just pure masculine oudy opulence.

Its dark and masculine but still has phantom sweetness. It hums forever on my skin.

Another one from @RisingPhoenix , that made me think and enjoy.

This question goes along nicely with my OOTD. Yesterday I tried for the first time Oud Chachak - Habzoud. This is a plantation Cambodi from Koh Kong but I would be really hard pressed to guess that if I went in blind. There is nothing fruity about this whatsoever or even particualy Cambodi. A very young and fresh oil so it comes out quite loud but settles down quickly enough and I really belive this will age into something special. Very woody and easy to like. It has a darker wood temperament but again not quite there yet. The dry down which goes for a good many hours ends up nowhere where it started. It's actually pretty complex to my nose and you get snippets of all sorts of lovely incense notes coming and going. I actually feel it reminds me of Habzoud's Oud Xiangshui with it's dusty library vibe, although completely different woods. That oil goes for many hundreds of dollars more than Chachak. I think for the super low cost this oil will quickly become something sought after.

EO's Borneo Reborn.

A very strange oud. I remember years ago smelling the dip stick and closing it up knowing it wouldn't be my style. But I had a weird day and wanted to try something out of left field.

You could fool me into believing this was a perfume with little to no oud in it, but there are these ultra fresh tea and orange notes that keep guiding my wrist to my nose. Like a fresh white tea stuffed mandarin.

It’s airy and refreshing, and as weird as it sounds, it's "thirst quenching".

Definitely not what I want when I crave oud, but I'll keep it in mind for hot summer days when I want to mindlessly swipe something interesting.

Alright...diving head first this morning into a Hindi I've been very excited to try. Habzoud - Alhind Dahab. First impressions have already turned my preconceptions upside down. If this is barn or funk then give me more please. Slight diesel in the opening but this goes away reasonably quickly. I've really only just swiped it so there will be more to come but for now i'm getting coffee and tobacco notes. There is some of that antiseptic band-aid I have smelled in some others but it's in no way overwhelming or even distracting but more of leading me through a slightly ajar door into another room. What is behind this door I am yet to see but it is definitely nothing to be afraid of.

@Al Shareef Oudh Oud Qais. This has been sat ageing for a good few years. Not much to say but this is a true classical Cambodian oil which is something special. Has the warm creamyness of a Hindi with the sweetest boozy golden Cambodian incense note. Just Wow.

ASAQ Thaqeel version 1 and 2 simply outstanding, gosh what happend to ASAQ the new version smells like....lol

I need to start opening my box of old treasure Ouds more often...contains some super rare legends

I needed to contrast this with another Borneo tonight, and Al-Hind's Borneo 2021 was the pick. My first thought after smelling it: 'Now this is what oud is supposed to smell like'.

Started woody and resinous (not particularly sweet, but not bitter either). Has a kind of 'summer forest after a cooling rain' vibe.

Now that resin is sweetening up, and transitioning into honeyed fruits and florals. Kind of yogurt-y. Blissful.
