Asiki Boven - @RisingPhoenix

This one is just getting started, but I'm already blown away by the opening. It was like an atomic blast of earthy green camphoric spices right to the nose. And it seemed to clear up my allergy ravaged sinuses like I had put vics on.

The overall scent here reminds me of absinthe, with hints of port barrel aged lightly peated scotch.

What's really interesting is when my wrist is 6+ inches from my nose, I get whiffs of gently heated ultra high quality agarwood or even kyara. Like when I have the kioka going at the tea table and the vapors make their way up to my nose while I'm brewing.

Mai Kritsana - Habzoud. Man this is good oud! Deep wood but soft with a dark polish. Powdery dry down that lasts for hours. Heady, a little goes a long way. I've been looking forward to this very much as it's in the same league as Oud Boran also from @Habz786. Easily equally as good as that one. I think Oud Boran might be a little woodier but this one is oudier. So good!

Habzoud al janna . Oh man this one is turning out to be real good. I haven't opened it in around 2 years, and now the notes are on full display. It has a herbacious green to it along with that clean leather/hay non barn hind kind of like EO Assam 3k but much cleaner. I'm also getting a tad bit of citrus and sweetness almost like an empty pack of skittles. Real Good stuff here mashaAllah.

Malay SQ
There is this note that is to die for, I encountered it in the drydown of SQ oils, like this one and Oud Royale 1982, haven't smelled it anywhere else, it is the note of Miswak (Arak).
The scientific name of the tree that is producing Miswak is Salvadora persica L. I'd love to have more oils with this note.

Which vendor is this oil from?

Interesting. Habz has just sent me a sample of this because he's a champion. It actually quite confused me as I was certain there was more than one oil in here. It's so much sweeter than any Hindi I recognise. Almost perfume like. Is this the kind of magic that lies underneath barn with this style of oil?

OudSg green malay.
Wow? Dusty yet bright florals, apple/kiwi. Wears like a perfume. Anybody else try it?

Edit: definitely has a candied heart which I typically wouldn't go for but this rides the line very nicely. Almost getting an herbaceous and fresh lemongrass on the dry down. A yellow/green effect.

Thanks to @Faizal_p for granting me access to the vintage deep oud library so I can finally understand what the hype is / was anbout this older Oriscent Borneo 3000 from 2003. It will be really fun to do a contrast to other Borneo oils such as the current EO offering especially as the 2019 distillation ages.

Initial impressions: dark honey, color, not too viscous. Dabbed on my pulse points on wrist and then touched each side of my neck once…. The toothpick still had extra oil so I put that on my chest.

This version still has the mint / menthol / camphor on the opening but immediately you get into the heart of a more cinnamon spicy and very slightly animalistic and… mysterious oud. Perhaps those higher fractions slowly fade / evaporate over time as oil’s age, or perhaps this is just because it’s from a different batch of wood.

But in addition, there’s some other amazing oils in this package that are blowing my mind already, and I’m just gonna have to take my time here because I’m a little bit overwhelmed in a great way. Included in the package is a yet unreleased Vietnamese oil from 2003 that is going to be my focus tomorrow morning. I wasn’t given an embargo so I’m pretty sure it’s OK for me to share information about this?

In any case… Thank you, Faizal !

I love this oil now!!! I dont know if my nose has changed or the oil, I think mainly the oil but also my new found appreciation for good barn, but it definitely has changed a lot. I actually didn't like this oil too much when I first got it so I hardly wore it. Last night I was a bit stoned and put some on and fell in love and noticed, this has changed into an absolute masterpiece (IMO), I then took massive multiple fat swipes and dabbed them with some sandalwood oil and Yusas patchouli on my hair, and dabbed all around my neck, face, ears, hair, clothes, multiple times over and basked in it. I need another bottle!!!

Aged beautifully!!!!

Will write more about tbis oil as another gram.

First impression of @AlHind Oud Alamgir 1 is fantastic. Nice robusto oud, I smell many intersecting lines of aroma and this really beautiful almost tangy aspect that brings mesoud's Hindi/Rose codistillation to mind. Really engaging oud. 🙂 nice rich scent, devoid of an accessory fermentation notes - clean oudy goodness.

Only just saw in the Antisipation thread you got some of this. How good is it? Engaging is a wonderful word for it. Simply smelling it from the bottle is enough for me and I do it regularly. More than any oud I've tried before.

I still can't even believe I get to smell oil like this at all. small batch 100% pure loved and fussed over hand distilled oud oil??? This is the stuff of kings....

Again, coming after the dark ages of oud in the United States, it's a minor miracle

Really nice oil. From the bottle it’s very nice. Reminds me of many regions at once. It has facets of Tuba. You’re spot on. Sweet resin and incense.

This one's been growing on me too. I've started to pick up on some black pepper and a kind of savory, perhaps metallic note.

Al Hashimi's Satkara II tonight. This one is so good. On the deepest inhales I get some mint, although it's covered in cheesy barn. It's somewhat greasy with a deep, deep leather and woods base.

Could you give me what main notes you now pick up? And how long it lasts you? At the time of writing that post I was on a binge with it. Put 1 fat swipe and a few light ones, VERY gently rubbed the oil into a square like i always do when enjoying oils (although I am gonna start putting dots on of new oils I get samples of and old oils ive had for a while, and just out 1 fat dot and just dab it with my pinky finger into just one place and refine my nose a little more for oils, as jce not done that in a while). Then I was enjoying that experience for lime 1.5 hours tnen I just went mad with reapplying, and eventually I just put fat swipes on my upper hand and nust dabbed all over my neck, face, etc. Now im awake and its 2:30pm and im basking in the amazing dry down of it. Very oudy, true hindi resin and some nice dry hindi wood.

Swipe of oudSg aged maroke. Not as dark and dirty as others. Clean dirt, a sort of humming sweetness in the background, newly emerging green shrubbery.
