Today, later, I will be wearing Agar Aura’s Neriko. An Oud I bought from him in 2918.

Maroke 2018 - AlHashimi

I love this Oud. Just finished the first bottle and now I have a full 2nd bottle untouched. It’s going to be hard to keep me away from it.

Maroke by AlHashimi is an opulent and glossy type of Oud. It has a dark brown inviting color. I’m picking up notes of wood, almonds, and coffee. Truly an enjoyable Oud. Sillage and projection are fair.

This is a good Oud for everyday use.

I changed my mind. I'm currently wearing ASO’s Rekheem.

Enjoying the Tamil Nadu sandalwood
(I posted this in the wrong section so I deleted the rest of the text… this is the oud of the day thread)

Enjoying the Tamil Nadu sandalwood absolute from @Al Shareef Oudh - an interesting complex quality profile combining classic sandalwood oil aroma with other layers. Woody, waxy, sweet, slight maple/fenugreek.

It is a always great to smell something a bit different from the distilled oils. CO2 extracts and absolutes offer some interesting variations on the sandalwood theme, very glad to have sniffed this oil.
@Mr.P ive never a l had the chance to smell a co2 of sandalwood. How does it compare with the creamy Mysore?

I posted this in the wrong section, whoops. CO2 oils can be topnote heavy, stronger at first, slightly less duration on skin then a really fine distilled oil - often with sweet or pronounced resinous or maple type notes. They can be very woody but in a more generic sense. There are select extracts and total extracts and those are quite different from one another. The total extracts are extremely sweet and sugary, maple, caramel, buttery and the like. Kind of strange but also very interesting.

I wouldn't like the total extracts but the resinous notes sound appealing. Do u have any sources you can share?

I haven't seen anyone producing these for a while, unfortunately I don't have a source.

Hate the naming scheme but Smokey Leather from Zakir today. Super thick oil, very pleasant in the air. Almost no sweetness to it. Super rich and resinous, supple suede. Absolute steal.
Sold as a Thai crassna from close to the Cambodian border, smells more like a Hindi with the slight funk red hues and suede. Not picking up on any hay, golden or fecal notes.

How do you compare it to CO2 extracts?
Some similarities, some differences. More similar to CO2 oils than to distilled oils I think.

I have smelled only four co2 extracts, and they varied considerably so it is hard to make a comparison. It resembles one of the CO2 extracts more than others but you would never mix them up. The CO2 oils likewise have rich topnote layers missing in the distilled oil.
