Where did the Drydown end up landing on your skin?3 Kings - @RisingPhoenix
So I'm sitting there debating what oud I want to wear tonight, and I can't decide between Hindi or Silani... Philippines pops in my head. Then it hits me, I have a sample of this co-distillation of all three.
This oud is a wild ride, and I'm not sure I was ready for it. A real head spinner. Insanely complex, all three regions shine on their own at times, then combine at times, then go out in left field and smell like something completely it's own.
I can't even pick out individual notes because as soon as try I go oh that smells like silani, wait no hindi, wait no that's filipino, wait no what is that!?!?
I'm only a half hour into the ride, and I'm excited to see where the dry down goes. If the hindi takes over like I would expect or if the wild twists and turns keep going throughout.
Incredible oil, potent, addictive ouddiness, and honestly kind of jaw dropping. One of the most unique ouds I've experienced.
The wild twists and turns turned into more like long winding curves. For awhile the silani blue was sitting on top of a hindi amber and it was incredible.Where did the Drydown end up landing on your skin?
Sounds awesome 💪🏼The wild twists and turns turned into more like long winding curves. For awhile the silani blue was sitting on top of a hindi amber and it was incredible.
Crazy longevity too. It was still really strong at the 4-5 hour mark when I fell asleep, and still had legs after I woke up.
That frangipani is platinum standard! And I only got the second tier oil, not the freshly distilled. It’s like a new material altogether except in the extreme far dry down; or when layered it starts to approach more mundane plumeria. Based on the quality of that and the attar sample they sent I can only imagine the quality of the ouds, or the sandalwoods.Don't see reviews of the oils too often… kind of surprising because I know they have an excellent reputation. I found prices to be high (justifiably from all I have read) the couple of times I've followed up on something, so I have yet to smell any oils from this source either. I'm very curious about the plumeria oil that they distill, my understanding is that their product is the gold standard and nothing else even comes close.
Totally agree with you here. This one fits into my precious samples box because unfortunately a bigger bottle is a tad out of reach. Beautiful oil.@Faizal_p i believe yet unreleased Ceylon Royale Exclusif Sri Lanka 2025 - correction it is released
wow, another “banger” as the kids say these days. Mentholated fruit with subtle spice, hints of lacquer and fading into a lovely incense! Yes yes yes - i need to order at least a gram.
Faisal I hope to shake your hand one day and thank you for your craft - I may actually have someone coming to the show in Germany to do this on my behalf… 🙂
Found your low key drop on here from May
Announcement of this oil
Unlabeled sample from @Al Shareef Oudh that I got in an order not too long ago. I slapped a label on it so it didn't get lost in a sea of vials.
Definitely hindi, opens with a piercing, dense, clean, and defined hindi profile. Barnyard (without manure), leather, suede, animalic, spices, dry meadow grass, candied fruits, lacquer-y oudiness, and there's even more going on and I'm barely an hour into it.
Whatever it is, it's an exceptional top tier oud. Clean hindi that'll satisfy both traditional and new-gen lovers.View attachment 48234
That Oudh my brothers is Qandahaar 2.1From my experience with Hindis, the lighter coloured oils are usually top note intense, sweeter, more vaperous and less heavy. The colour will darken as the oil ages in some cases. Darker Hindis have a heavier deeper more traditional profile with more base. The lighter oils could be a result of lower cooking temps, distillation setup materials etc. @Al Shareef Oudh can chime on more on this specific oil...
I look forward to hearing your impressions of that oneToday I will try KyaraShrine’s wild Hainan oil. This one used supercritical distillation instead of steam.
Looking forward to what @kban thinks as well. For me, it's a very boring oil, that is, if at all you can even smell it! Has that faintly vanillic scent in a woody backdrop and from the stick, you'll be struggling to find anything to smell, let alone deciding whether its good or bad.I look forward to hearing your impressions of that one
