AlMokhlif Oud - Indian Asam and Amiral AlTeeb - Luxury Indian

I layered these two. They go perfectly together. There are red wine notes from the luxury Indian that’s going perfectly with the nuttiness I’m picking up this time from the Asam. There’s an assertive scent with dried fruits, honey and spices. Gorgeous.

Oud Royale
Dang it this oil is just too good.
I want to taste it. I just might.

I use a tiny drop at night and fall asleep with it within reach on my arm, moving it periodically near or far to increase or decrease the amplitude. I swear it threads into my sleep and dreams.

In the morning its sweet incense still there… I keep using this as the yardstick and others get close — but fall short at some point. Usually by dry down they have gone flat. Or they have that purple / golden (??) magic but it fades quickly.

If anyone has others in this echelon, I welcome all to the Oud Olympics.
I will keep searching….
deeply honored to have some of this, thanks to whoever squirreled it away and was willing to let some go. I’m indebted.

EO - Cambodi Caramel

For the 2nd time around, I applied Cambodi caramel as I didn’t want to be complacent in rating some thing as not good when in fact it is a quality product. I can confirm that this time around I’m getting sweet, earthy rainwater notes that are delicate. Its opening is opulent with prunes, creaminess, and leather. And enjoyable throughout.

Oud of the day for me has to go to Oud Al-Aqsa - AlHindOud. This long sold out oil was generously sent to me as a sample which I received the other day. Man, am I sad it's all gone. I literally said in a previous post that I've tried but I'm just not that into Merauke Oud's. Oud Al-Aqsa has knocked that out of the park, and now I should eat my hat.💚🙏

Holy moly Yavuz is so freaking nice. It's got this sweet custardy quality- like some delicious perfectly balanced cooked dessert, but of course it's not simply sweet like a dessert - it's complex, "chewy" and resinous, has a certain phenolic quality (medicinal, rich, bitter, slightly roasted) that I am starting to identify as a sign of a good robust extraction. I've noticed this quality in oils from @mesOUD and @AlHind Oud and LOVE it. It's not a specific note but it is a kind of high degree of richnes and contributes to incense like impressions. Spectacular

Sounds like a winner!

Yi-Xin Craft Nha Trang “Elemental Elegance”

This oil is now revealing more and more of its spectrum with each use. The very top of this oil is the infamous “rice” note, then it’s the vietnamese bitter sweetness that very decadent.
Almost feels like a perfume. Amazing stuff!

Note: Initially I thought this oils was similar to NHU by Imperial Oud, I consider that one a shapeshifting oil that I am still figuring out.

And this made me think, a good oil can harbor certain characteristics which you will most likely find in other oils as well. A common thing that I found myself doing is judging oils on proximity, subconsciously. I also believe that oils when first received are not always showcasing everything, same applies to oils that you try for the first time. You’d find a certain thread and immediately correlate it to another oil and right there is where I fall. Giving oils more time (usage) will probably allow me to enjoy the analysis and comprehend what it is that I am analyzing. That’s all, thank you! 🤣

Malinau malaki -
Opening is delightful with nose tingling eucalyptus which last a few minutes, then something that I don't like appears the smell of salty 💦 (body odor) which lasts for 30 + minutes , then it dry down to raspberries .
Overall not my cup off tea ,did not like the middle part I despise the smell of BO .
N.B. this was a small blot ,I need to try it with a swipe ,some oils act differently on a full swipe.

Al Shareef Oudh: Thuraya

The first time I smelled this, I thought “this is a hindi oudh lover’s Malay oil”.
Not surprising, coming from this house.

Not a loud, screaming oil.
Deep, resinous, dignified. Dark midnight purples, dark reds, a layer of tart tobacco, a hint of dusty forest green.

I’m not too familiar with a lot of the current Malay offerings on the market, but this certainly worth sampling for all those who love that profile.
Very enjoyable.

Sokkat AlTeeb - First Prachin Oud

This is a very dark Oud. It opens with a fresh sweetly scent. At the heart it’s woody and slightly floral. I’m getting slight medicinal notes too. This is a very clean Oud and it can go with anything including rose oil. In this case, I have some AlKhudair - Henry Jacques Oud, worn previously but still fragrant. It’s blending nicely with the Prachin. I am awaiting a prized (well at least I think so) wood I will mention in another thread.

Glad you’re enjoying! I’ve sampled the Ouds from the following Malaysian Oud house and they are definitely worth exploring. You can check them out here:
