Imani Oud by Tajul Bakshi
Rising Mysore by Zak & Dixit

Hindi Oud! Overwhelming indeed! Rising Mysore- devoid of Mysore- though beautiful. Neroli and Lavander sort of citrus keeps punching badly in the face. Mysore Sandal, better say Sandal base is there but not rising at all, rather suppressed and snubbed and mutilated and killed. Yet the scent profile of the perfume is good. I had to swipe Oud, Hindi Oud, to brush away the soapy aura of the perfume.

I have to develop taste for perfumes now, esp artisanal ones because it seems within a year or so, perfumes will be everywhere. New era has begun. Post Oud Regime!

IO Nagaland Imperiale
Creamy, with a touch of blue,
outpouring of a heated chip,
a tiny twang, 2nd pull feel,
agarwood fruit if there ever was one😀
pollen and tea.

The first Nagaland I sampled from IO was a Nagaland with a mean barn (in a good way),
but when I tried to get a bottle, it was no longer available🙁, good thing Nagaland Imperiale came around...... every bit as good, and refined without the barny kick.

Cambodi Vert by Imperial oud (yet to be released)

A Cambodian oil like nothing else I’ve tried.

This one opens up with a piercing jungly green quality which is almost Vetiver like. There is no familiar honey bittersweet dry down like in other oils from the same region I have tried. In many ways you could compare this to an Indonesian or Malaysian oil, as it has that earthy jungle like green quality, with a smidge of that wonderful ethereal Indonesian sweetness. I also find later in the dry down a nod to an almost Sinensis like bitterness?

This one is a real shape shifter, I’ve never encountered a Cambodian oil like it and I am left scratching my head in the best possible way.

The oil shares some of the same qualities with a previous release called Burma citron but with an added Indonesian/Malay vibe to it.

As usual with imperial oud the oils are clean, pristine, well made and with no off notes at all.

I am told this will be very well priced

IO Ceylon Royale 1 - super interesting to compare walla oils. Makes you realize just how diverse of aromatic profiles exist in Sri Lankan aloes. This one goes the route more of a north Borneo or tarakan type vibe - dry yet vanillic smooth wood. Very driven by non-smokey incense note and ambery base.

Compare that to Sri pada - which is more of a wet blue/pink walla candy vibe, kinda tropical fruity thing going on.

Such a cool region!

Bortnikoff's Mysterious Oud (1st collection)

This beautiful bottle is still available on Bortnikoff website which proves that quality is overlooked.

This is the first collection of Bortnikoff with the quality of material used was the best. Now 2 years after launch the symphony of notes is beautifully played [emoji7]

A very unpopular opinion - Bortnikoff has the best control on florals than all other contemporaries....

He is very underrated, under appreciated in my opinion.....

I tend to agree. He is much more subtle than a lot of people expect from an OUD PERFUME. Haha. Very light touch. I think he has some very nice perfumes(Oud Max, Vetiver Nocturne, Triad, Mysterious Oud).
