Mysore Sandalwood from Craft Oud

Easily one of the better oils I’ve had the pleasure of smelling. It’s Mysore but almost smells like Silani. It has intense boozy, amaretto notes up top with warm sweet amber notes before shifting into a floral woody drydown. Lots of incense and spice in this one. The drydown is identical to some KyaraZen Mysore incense I have. Beautiful stuff.

Dr. Prasun is definitely worthy of the hype.

Swipe before bed 🤗
AA Kinabang 💣 Bomb of Zen ! Smooth and warm milk chocolate that you are taking on the top of the mountains during winter snowfall ❄️ with creamy smell of the salted butter melting on my sugar waffle 🧇 …
Siam 4k soul, in Vsk body = KinaBang
I also feeling the ghost of IO hainan qinan
Beautiful, phenomenal !
KinaBang is Kinamical !! 😄
I wish I got that vibe! To me it smells like an earthy olive note and then a pure sweet Thai drydown. When I first wore this I was really impressed but that initial “like” turned to pure boredom fast. Agar Aura oils tend to do that for me I guess.

Kinabang again today ^^ with unreleased
AA Trang !
You are right bro!!
Since you talked about olive 🫒 it’s a face that I can see now but very creamy olive oil very sweet with some yellow pollen aura like olive oil on the warm bred or Msemen (Maghrebian bread) but I am agree that is this note that we can find in lots of Taha oils ( Pailin sk, Siam sk, Vsk, lao 4K,Siam 4k) Maybe the signature of skills distillation from Taha!
I can find also signature of Ensar oils (bitter aura) for exemple i find similar note from kinam rouge and sumanaka or namassoma… But Kinabang is very milky for me …
But now with a touch of olive oil 😉 to me it’s unusual cambodi profile, no doubts my favorite Cambodian oil at this moment.
I really love this oil !
AA Trang is still bit fresh but very interesting!
Very nice oil! I look forward to feel the entire potential of this oil 🙂
From now I feel Apricot jam, honey, clean barn that I prefer here than the new AA Pailin who remind me little bit Khmer antique 🙂

I received this outstanding oil several days ago and I thought that it deserves a small review. I don't really post reviews on perfume, mainly because I believe it's a subjective experience. However, this oil is one that I really connected with, unlike any other Oud oil before. I have smelled several oils by now that blew me away, not just in terms of the psychoactive effects, but the sheer complexity. Most of these were Vietnamese, a Myitkyinese, Gyrinops. The hard-to-find, now gone type of oils. Sinensis from China is definitely top 3 regions for my tastes, and I have always wanted to get an oil from Hainan that would rise to the highest standards. So, as soon as I've heard that Marius is going to bring a Hainan oil, I prepared myself. For those of you that have tried or own Guan Yu and Pusong Qi, you know what type of oils Marius has put out so far. His standard is very high. I own Guan Yu and when Marius told me that Emperor of China is going to be better, I knew it was going to be good. Is it better? To me, it's so much better.
The base of this oil is basically Guan Yu's pristine yellow Kinam goodness. That Manuka Honey smell that transports you to Nirvana. And even though it's hard to spot for the first few hours, it becomes the main chord of the oil at the 8-hour mark(yeah, it lasts a long time on my skin). But then, on top of that already perfect base, you get tons of other things happening. This is an insanely complex oil.
I like to call this oil, "Guan Yu's Spice and Medicine shop". As soon as you apply it on the skin, BOOM, it literally explodes. You are right in the middle of a Chinese Spice and Medicine shop, in rural China. All the aromas in that shop come at you at once. Cinnamon and Anise, fruity touches, something like Cherries and Watermelon, Green tea and Rooibos Tea, Tobacco, a bit of smoke. There is also a boozy note in there, almost like an alcoholic beverage made by fermenting fruits (no fermented aroma btw). It's sweet and savory, sour and bitter. All of these are identifiable over the Manuka Honey base. This is an oil that is overly complex, but it doesn't unfold in phases, rather it unfolds in layers. I find it very potent, very strong. For the first 3 hours or so it's very present. I only applied a small amount on my wrist and it bombards my senses as I type this. It also follows you around in the air. I actually went ahead and applied a bit behind my ears and I didn't smell it as well as with a small swipe on my wrist (so yeah, it will cause nose fatigue if applied too close to the nose). Less is more in general with oud, especially here. It dances in the air, all the flavors swirling around you. It is soothing, cheerful, beautiful. The next day I still get flickers of the scent in my room. As it dries down, the oil becomes more restrained. It's getting dark outside and old Guan Yu is getting ready to close the shop for the day. It's quiet now. It's just him, smoking his pipe, reflecting on the busy day that is soon to be over. That's what's left of it at the end. That beautiful yellow Kinam base.
This is an oil that really touched my soul. It's also the only oil that I want to get a backup bottle of. I never want to be without it. I'll save this one for the days when I really want to cheer myself up and for the most special occasions. Hats off to The Emperor of China.

Beautiful review brother 🙂
Thank you for sharing this deep expérience that you felt, you give me lots of attraction to this oil 🙂

Habzoud - Ghazal

This has already matured a little in the bottle to my nose. Smoother, and that oudy leathery note is diffusing in the air around me. Insufficient words to describe the oil, as always.

I was away from my oils for a few weeks and coming back to them with a fresh nose is wonderful.

nice write up my friend
thanks for this

Bortnikoff’s unreleased Hindi #1 today across from Dr. Prasun’s Incense grade Garo Hills oil.

Another example of how incense grade means different things to different distillers. While Prasun’s oil is absolutely top notch it still pales in comparison to the grade of wood used in Bortnikoff’s oil. For example the intensity of Hindi #1 is similar to the intense fumes of Mr. Ali’s premium green Silani. It’s almost oceanic as well. I’ve noticed a similar intensity in some of Ensar’s Oriscent/LTD oils or even Hainan 05’ where there’s a piercing vaporous diesel quality to the oil.

I could be completely off base though with conflating this intensity with grade of wood but a part of me feels like this particular intensity has to do with the oil and resin content of the wood itself ie. the “grade”.

Prasun’s oil has complexity for days but the intensity is subdued and smooth. It’s buzzy for sure but it’s buzzy in the way Mynma Gold is to Myitkyina 4K.

Imperial Oud - Yunnan Vintage
...so barny!!
also, @Shabby!! nice to see you around here again my friend 🙂
Thanks my friend, it’s always good to come back here...🙂

I’ve got two recently distilled Sri Lankan ouds on my hand. One clean-soaked and one unsoaked, same raw materials for both so I can do a straight comparison of how soaking affects walla wood.

There is quite a pronounced difference in how the top notes are expressed. The unsoaked has a greater clarity and ‘elevation’ to the top notes, overall the feeling is more dry, and this carries through to the heart and base as well. The soaked, although lacking in those crystal top notes, had this really nice feeling of intimacy, for lack of a better expression. I wish I could explain it in a different way...but it gives a very familiar feeling, like the feeling of speaking to your spouse vs speaking to a stranger. In that sense, it's like the soaking has made it more accessible.

It feels like something in my understanding of all the ouds I’ve bought previously has been unlocked by smelling this clean soaked oud 🧐

RPP Khmer Rouge. An enjoyable darkly fruited Cambodi oil, punching at its weight, like a friend you enjoy seeing every so often. I haven’t tried a single oud oil from RPP for which I could say I was blown away, aside from the very heady Naganchi. A number of independent perfumers applaud his botanicals and I would concur that his real gifts lie therein, either in the diligence of sourcing them or in having a hand in the distillation process. Nevertheless I enjoy this oil and at this price that’s really all that should matter. It’s not academic.
