Oud Ahmad. One of my favorite oils if not my favorite. I wish I could describe it but there's nothing like it that I know of. The base is a bit similar tigerwood 1990 but there is another note that takes over and I really Have no idea what to compare it to. Very linear and feels like a single cohesive scent even though you can pick out the notes of you pay attention.

Feel Oud - Jardin de Assam

I bought this many months ago, as I wanted to try a traditional Hindi without breaking the bank. At $36/g, it made sense as a financial decision. Strong barn opening, with a sweet sugar syrup in the background. Midnotes were a hint of citrus, floral sweetness, cinnamon spice, and of course, the indolic barn. I kind of like the effect here - it's like a white floral, particularly neroli, on steroids, with the indole cranked up to 11. Base notes, for me, were a spicy and citrusy note like black pepper, vying with a spicy musky white pepper note. Bit of a red cedar vibe too.

Overall, it sounds like I enjoy this oil, but I'm pretty blah about it. I've smelled much better soaked ouds since then (Cambodi Ateeq, Burma Savage, 60 Day Rangamati Hill Tract, Oud Mostafa), and what separates them IMO is a quality I'd call 'blending'. The soaked and animalic notes are much more layered, bringing to mind ancient leather, tobacco, and oud chips; and they gracefully swan dive in and out of the sweeter notes in a cogent manner. Jardin de Assam smells thin, like I'm sniffing 2 ouds at once, one of which is pungent, and the other of which is sweet. Neither are complex. Kind of mediocre.

Do you get a lot of Sri Lanka notes?
I'm not the one you replied to but I've tried it. I love Sri Lankan oud for the oceanic notes but they are vague-nonexistent here. There is a sort of airy note that smells a bit Sri Lankan to me and it definitely makes it a more interesting oil.

If I'm not paying attention, musk added to sandalwood mostly just smells like sandalwood to me, but more satisfying and thats kind of the effect I get with this oil. The Thai origins show much more than the sri Lankan origin, but if I pay attention I can tell the Sri Lankan portion is making the Thai oil smell better. Seems pretty smart of Ensar to mix them. Thai oil is typically cheaper than Sri Lankan. I'm guessing his thought process was to make a cheap oil that still smells good by accenting Thai oil with Sri Lankan. Or diluting Sri Lankan with Thai, however you want to look at it.

To me the final product smells like the most fragrant and complex honey that you could imagine. In theory it hits above it's price point, but it's not a very strong oil and I end up using it pretty fast compared to most other oils. Very wearable though. I'm pretty sure it smells good to everyone, and on everyone.

Yes. Not a lot but they are quite apparent. I would say, it’s a nice balance with trat sweetness and marine coolness from Sri Lanka and hint of mintiness from Papua.
Agree with Himanshu.

There's no doubt that is smells great, but side by side with Maroke Ceylon, the latter is much more strongly Sri Lankan smelling. In some ways, I kind of consider PS an entry level, watered down MC. That's not a knock! MC is a beautiful oil, but even on a deep discount, is over 2x the price of PS. I'm impressed and pleased with PS for democratizing that experience.

I see your point, and just like incense blends, it’s not about representing each ingredient equally, but rather, in a way that makes the overall profile a success.

Al Hashimi - Tariq - a Cambodian oud, quite a small swipe applied, and woah this is *strong*. I've had this since 2018 or so and am just about finishing my sample bottle, pretty sure I've worn it a few times too.

Mellifluence - Cambodi Supreme. Dense, thick, not too fruity. All oud oils that I've obtained from Abdullah have been great; he kindly sent me a sample of a wild Vietnamese oud which is out of this world. I've not seen many people mention his oud oils here but all have punched well above their cost; extremely good value. I wore 'Khao Yai' to bed last night which is also very thick but tangy, resinous and fruity. Good stuff

I'm on a Cambodi kick as of late and loving them!

I'm also wearing a spray; Oud Zhen by Areej la Dore. Amazing stuff: dark, dense, resinous, spicy, and thiiiiick.

There's a new starter in work who's sitting besides me ....poor lad. Bet his nostrills are under assault 😂

Someday try Interlude by Amouage and then spray Oud Zhen. Drastic similarities are there, IMHO.
