EO Green Papua (recent vintage)
Look, I want to like it. I do. But it's just hitting *hard* with that Chinese medicine shop vibe. Green and kind of clinical.
I find it hard to get into oils like this, where the medicinal note is too powerful. I had a similar reaction to Kyara de Kalbar but KdK revealed itself to me after about 9 hours. I keep hoping this will happen with Green Papua but it's 7 hours in already and shows very little sign of slowing. I give it points for consistency and longevity though.
AA Kyoryoku on the other hand, as a good old standby.
Still love how sparkly the top notes feel on this.

I didn't like HK. I feel like I'm missing something because everyone else says it's great and I just don't know what people like so much about it.HK is sublime. One of the most unusual oils I've smelled...
indeed its, the oil always delivers even with tiny dots 😀HK is sublime. One of the most unusual oils I've smelled...
Ah well, it happens right? Some oils just don't work for everyone. I wasn't even aware that HK is so popular with many. For me it's one of those scents that I do not just really love but it triggers some memory. I just couldn't pinpoint yet which one or what it reminds me of.I didn't like HK. Oh that brings back memories! I was living in Riyadh for 6 months in 2011. Was actually there that I smelled oud (at a colleague's house) for the first time!New to Ouddicts living in Riyadh at the Oud souq. The place is mesmerizing with the deep, soothing smells of balsamic, leather, molasses, and burning charcoal everywhere. If anyone is in Riyadh and wants to meet up and enjoy a few new arrivals, I'm always available.
It's one of the most impressive markets for oud and dehn oils I can imagine. Nothing I've seen online comes close to the sheer scale and magnificent aromas. If anyone is in Riyadh and would like to meet up for coffee in the market, let me know. Also, if you're hunting for something special, I'd be happy to ask around.Oh that brings back memories!
