How is it?
I used to have this oil. It was very interesting and seemed to be very good quality, but it was more interesting than pleasant. I agree with Mario that it does not smell Malaysian at all. I would guess that its Hindi if someone asked me. Something about it also reminds me of Sri Lankan oil.

Smells very spicy, like black pepper and some other spices mixed in. There is a very subtle fruitiness that I only noticed a couple times. Aside from that I don't know how to describe the scent. Its complex enough that I used up the whole 0.3g sample and I still feel like.im missing something. I'm surprised that Mario says it smells normal, to me it smells very unique.

Dont get me wrong , is not an bad oil , but i have thais with same same smell, other reason is review, i buy it due to reviews and is nothing to do with that , yes is spicy peppery ,green cardamom, fruity little fermentation etc, but nothing to do with what i expect specially when i read hirta species witch is nothing like that .On the other side is not for me , check sell thread maybe you interested 😛

Ceylon Nirvana - Oudbase love it

Trying some Augar Aura’s Mahabali from an old sampler.
Outstanding! There’s a lot going on here at first swipe. Has that deep Hindi strength whiteout much barnyard. Lots of florals and dark berries at play to my nose. Swoooon! Wish I had more of this!

Nope I am not interested. I thought it was good but like you it's not something I'd buy. I agree the description was not very accurate. I'm not familiar with hirta.

I heard about Ceylon nirvana but I never got any. Sounded like it would be up my alley.

OOD: JS Hainan Essenza

Currently I have 6 Hainan oils in my collection and Hainan Essenza is the least sweet of all. Also, in Hainan Essenza I discovered the most unusual and unexpected notes in an oud oil ever!

The opening greets you with nutty and earthy notes like damp soil, vegetal roots and even mushrooms. In the heart the earthy notes recede and the nutty, slightly bitter almondy nuances take a step forward. As incredible as it may sound, at a given point it gives me a really interesting ballpoint pen ink vibe. This note is very vivid in my olfactory memory because as I child I used to disassemble my father’s ballpoint pens and “extract” the ink. As the scent dries down you’re in for another surprise. My nose picks up a slightly sweet and alcoholic beer-like smell which reminds me of a pizza dough after it’s risen.

Altaws from Habzoud.
Boy, this is good stuff. Goes through a lightly spiced autumn with a hint of incense and smoke into a comfortable oud resin base. I feel like I'm getting a caramel apple or pumpkin pie vibe. At a campfire. Possibly with marshmallows toasting. A very comforting -- and comfortable -- oud.

Zamarad 2, likewise.
Green and crystalline. A bit thin but reminds me of something between Czar Sultan and Lindaraja. Again, cost-performance for days. I didn't get the resiny hit at the end of my swipe yesterday, will try again another time.
The weather might be to blame.

Habz has won my loyalty. I wish I had known earlier, could have saved myself some serious dough.
(Stares at the hardly touched bottle of Kyara de Kalbar and calculates cost per swipe.)

Thanks for the feedback and nice descriptions, these 2 oils punch above their weight. Its great to have someone in Japan who enjoys my Ouds as i love the JDM car scene and Japanese culture culture. I will be putting out a special bundle offer for these 2 oils thanks to you 👍🥳

~40 years old Hainan oil from Dr. Incense
This is the second oldest oil in my collection and it's definitely a collector's item. It was distilled mainly from sinking wood. It has a very viscous consistency with a very deep and resinous scent profile, complemented with notes of roasted peanut and aged whiskey kept in an oak barrel. The dry-down is slightly sweet and vanillic.
