Pkg. arrived.
Giving Pursat Maliki
and Hitam Qadeem a try.

PM goes through phases.
Bitter, then sweet, then a bit floral, then some cream, and then oudiness. Smells more Cambodi to me than Altawas, in fact, the drydown of Altawas reminds me of the heated resin of some of my Shoyeido First Class (Matsu) chips.

HQ has that well aged liquorness, dark classic indeed, Malaysian oudh resin for the most part, but the Thai comes through at the end, just like Ensar’s Kyen distillations.

First oud after three days of sniffing essential oils and...wow. It wasn't my imagination. Oud is in a class by itself.

And what an Oud to kick off with...

Olefaktory Ve Dep - has everything I love about oud. So nicely balanced between sweet, creamy, woody and spicy. Hints of fresh fruit, plum or melon, light sourness that easily drifts into creamy raw honey, sweet and floral. Dry spicyness of cinnamon and bark and wood and moss. I find this scent to be so refined, so honed, but so rich.

It is important for me to post here because I'm having these very powerful experiences and none of the people I see in my daily life really get it. I'm glad the forum is here.

Assorted Vapors knocking me out👊
ASO Leen
ASO Liu Zhi
ASO Java Arch
Habzoud Zamarad 2

I was comparing the two Malaysian oils, Leen has definitely undergone more curing, allowing instant access to it’s profile, but the two are not similar. Both are nice, and I’m glad to have them. Leen does not smell like it’s from Kelantan or from Kedah, it’s definitely Malaysian with a little floral sweetness hovering over Oudhchip resin. Worth every penny!!

Liu Zhi….aaaahhhhh, the golden floral pops out, just like Chinese Oud can, and in the background a faint incensy oudiness. Light and pleasant, and reminds me a little bit of a CK oil.

Java Arch…..Dayuuuummmm! I haven’t smelled oud like this before. I thought it was an Artisanal Attar, heavy on the Ambegris reminding me of Al Layl without the florals. It’s the Masculine side of oud, a Medicinal Elixir with a touch of cooling, and it seems Vintage. My oud compass is lost here, although oudy, doesn’t remind me of any chips I tried.

As I reflect on yesterday’s overdose. I can’t help but think how there was so many cross contamination of profiles. I need some one-on-one time with each of the new oils I tried.

Felt the same way when smelling Java arch first time. Thought it was an Attar. Such a nice oil

What kind of scent does it have? Any adjectives come to mind? Love a good kalimantan oud. What’s the cost per 1/4 tola? Thanks

My SOD: Grandawood “triple happiness” sinensis co2. Pronounced floral violet top note reminding me of cultivated kinam oil. Has some “salivary” notes (thank you for this awful but fitting adjective, kyarazen) that I can live without in the base note but they pass. The overall impression is kinam like, based on my understanding. Doesn’t smell like kinam but has some of the notes that kinam and kyara wood have albeit in a coarse form.

Grandawood oils aren’t “epic” but there are two that are worth sampling. One is “triple happiness” and the other is “warming sun”. The latter has a nice spicy note for a distilled sinensis and I think it will age well.

If you like your sinensis heavily fermented, their “peated oud” hits like a distilled oil and is funky (to a fault I think).

If you are voted the grandawood cultivated sampler is amusing and not a bad deal for the price. I didn’t find myself wanting to buy these oils but I’m glad I have the sample set. Interesting to see the different profiles one distiller can cook up.
I love the sound of that "Pronounced floral violet top note". I'm going to give it some target practice! Have you tried their co2 kinam? The tripple happiness would be a perfect mix with the kinam

Pursat maliki - top notes are very unique, super clean and creamy. Progressions comes on to the nose in waves, quite complex. Need more time to study. Dry down is a beautiful Cambodi.
For the opening I enjoy PM 12 inches from the swipe, it’s like liquid Oudh on a burner, but closer to the swipe it will be a different experience. It has many stages, therefore demands a lot of attention, or you might miss something.

ASO Liu Zhi before bedtime
just a super tiny dot.

The start reminds me of IO Fragrant Harbor, but just a little, then blooms some fruity florals. It’s resiny and oudy.
Next time….a full swipe.

On a different note, I noticed Ish of Royal Bengal Oud (Etsy) is unloading some of his early Feel Oud oils. Tarakan Le Nu, Sumatra QTiq, plus others. I love Sumatra Qtiq, but not sure if it aged well.

"Bai Qinam" wild chinese kinam co2 from Rising Phoenix Perfume.

So far I am only up to smelling from the vial and have not applied to skin yet because of such a small amount that I have.

It smells luxurious! Not anything like the many different wild Vietnamese kinams that I much preffer, but these are what I have been experiencing the past 3 years so this one is completely new to me. It definitely is a very beautiful aroma and pretty strong.

I WILL be back once I apply. I am waiting for the nose to tell me when it feels ready to extreme aromatic workouts.

Hailam Kilam Ensar Oud
Extremely medicinal, extremely creamy, bitter orange, slight kinamic, whisky, maple serum, sweet. Very nice oil

Cultivated Kinam oil from Ejay Olefaktory
very fresh oil so the opening is turning my nose off to a point I do not smell anything and the things I smell are this wet wood fiber and walnut shell like someone else mentioned BUT BEHOLD....this is some extremely layered stuff. after the opening it it has so much going on I lost count and memory of the order. There is camphoric, lemony, sweet, sour, mint, slight vanilla, sweet cream and a lot more...towards the dry down it starts smelling like room temp cultivated kinam with hints of heated kinam left and right. I will give it another go with a clean nose. There are DEFINITELY ASO al malek al ceeni notes in it also, no more than 2 but they are very pronounced and this according to my memory. I will do a side by side to make sure I am not tripping. I am not comparing these oils in any way, Ceeni is a beautiful Hainan legend and very expensive stuff but there are those pronounced notes in this ck oil for sure.

Viet-k oil from Ejay
This shiet is nice! To my nose almost identical to Agar Aura King K Nam! These two oils are so similar to me I cant believe the price difference! Well done!

Green Malay Ejay
Very nice powdery malay narcotic.

Kannamusk Ejay
I have not tested on skin yet but it smells like strong hemp oil so far. I am sure on skin it will be much different. I was expecting hash smell but no hash. Very nice and VERY generous is Olefaktory for this sample!! Of course I will redo when I apply to skin!

Kyara Di Ser perfume
I was expecting much better representation of kyara with this one and it could have been done if they had removed a couple of their ingredients. I think they tried to replicate the heated wood aroma more than the room temperature of Kyara. It is not bad as a perfume, pretty nice actually but they added more notes and missed it in my opinion.
