Oriscent Royal kinam. Nice Vietnamese type oil pretty pungent

ASO yunnan on my left forearm… waves of bitter barn, a bit of sassafrass and dry leathery notes, and smells like it has been allowed to age. It has what I believe to be the middle eastern esthetic going strong, not a floral or confectionery oud in any way, and in some ways to my nose reminds me of Hindi, if such a thing is possible. I am sure to a seasoned Hindi lover this would be obviously not from that region…Perhaps something about the extraction or preparation method that gives it similar nuances, even though the wood is from a different region I really don’t know! Nice dense heavy scent, well cured, good oud.

Last swipe from my sample vial of
EO Hainan 2005
Well, I don’t like dusty crayons so I washed it off.

Onto the next wrist…
Olefaktory’s Cultivated Kinam (2nd batch)
Camphoric with young green vegetation. It takes a while for the oudy aspect to arrive.
The progression is slow, and I’m only midway so far.
Interesting oil with facets of kinam, which is more of a study oil for now.

Do you get any violet or benzaldehyde notes?

No. 2 of the “bio chan ko” series from Russian Adam. Same wood processed three ways… no. 2 which had some decent soaking going on has vaguely frankincense-like nuances. The oil is very very thick now, slow to pour. Still has some of that crazy “new Thai” pungent sweet and sour bitter almond thing going (that I would always rather do without) but those molecules are starting to oxidize into something more pleasant and interesting thank goodness.

From day one though these have been very “oudy” ouds and once all the introductory notes fade, a nice oudiness prevails.
