Royal kinam today. Diluted down in ethanol the thyme / nagarmotha / carrot seed aroma transforms into a scent of Vietnamese wood chips on the subitism. The mysteries of scent…

3 big swipes of..
SQ maroke prive from the 1980’s
This oil is spot on to the best wood bubbling away on the heater !
Once again I am beyond grateful to experience these oils from a sultan’s stash,
They were gifted
Your posts are making me wonder if I should try the SQ oils that Ensar is offering 😅

I honestly would save your loot , his prices are very high and most SQ oils were state gifts and not something worn or looked at by the Sultan.
Don’t get me wrong, who gives a Sultan shit oils? But only some certain ones were his private stash.
I just tried a dead ringer to “oud royal “ # 1 the original from SQ’s private stash made in the 1970’s and that’s not what someone told me , I actually own some few drops of the # 1
Thanks to our forum founder Nadeem 🙏🏼

Habzoud - Oud Caliph. This is amazing oil. It has this vibrational, aura-like effect of musk but really mineral and ozonic. The top notes go so high.

wearing this too 🙂
/edit - can't smell this now. Weird, but I'm just recovering from an illness

SQ Maroke 1970’s
This and the one I wore yesterday are both distilled by the same person who distilled the Original #1 oud Royale
These maroke oils are so beautiful and I think this one from the 70’s is a touch closer to the original OR1 and maybe even better to my nose if that’s possible
So subtle yet powerful, bold yet beautiful and the drydown???
Speechless

This oil has a mellow opening, as soon as it touches your skin, it opens up to what I can describe as colours of rainbow 🌈 I can smell a multitude of colours from green, to yellow, to blue, and purple, etc. The viscosity is beautiful too, not super thick, but just right. Since the first sniff, as I unscrewed the vial and wore it, it has been stamped in my olfactory memory, I can't forget it, the beauty of it is unforgettable.

I am not exaggerating, but as what everyone can also attest to, this is kinamic kōdō-session, bottled. I heard this is similar to the vintage Oriscent Royal Kinam, but I have not tried that yet. What an oud, nice! 👌.

[Ouddict.com] Oud of the Day
my morning pick me up 😉

I doubt I’m the first person to try this. But this weekend I put dab of my bespoke perfume from THE OUD LAB under one arm and Abu’s Merauke OUD Shinrin under the other. I imagined a stereo affect with the seagulls on the cliffs along the ocean. I would bike ride and co-mingle my sweat with the ocean with my new perfume and oud.

I read the radar wrong probably too early and found a deluge pouring down. But I was prepared with this force field of divinity, no anointed, under my slicker and HOWL cap. That I had just got in San Francisco to remind me of the poem. That I am a HOWLIE on this island.

I asked Abu Tominaga for ancient ruins, caves, & temples evocative of time travel. An impossible brief even when we speak the same language. I came to learn I didn’t know what I was asking for. Because leather isn’t just leather to the perfumer/ alchemist. I was patiently sent back to my suite of OUD LAB samples to pin down exactly which leather I meant? To ignore certain elements of an oud but excavate just the right notes to pass on.

Abu writes about tying scent to experience and imprinting fragrance. It makes sense to me in terms of practice. Kani from our forum said just a few days ago (from YUZI OUD) that he got into to OUD & perfumery to smell good for his prayers. And there I was peddling on the bike path, spinning around these ideas finding myself passing this sign that read ANCIENT BURIAL site. Even the squished frog leathers held me conscious. I had wanted, always wanted, a scent that made room for me, something contemplative.

A perfume with breath that I might greet the ancestors with. Ask them them to make me welcome. The leaning trees and tall guinea grass... I thanked them too, sending out aloha & trail of respect. As I now thank Abu for this stunning creation that has moved me beyond tears not just for it’s beauty, but for the care it takes to care so much to be such a perfectionist, to be so measured is surely prayer.

Another OUD LAB mike drop.
