JERAI from AA
I remember telling Taha that the burnt smell on the top end of this oil would never go away but after 3 years I stand corrected ,
At 2 years it was still there but now it’s gone and the full beauty of the oil comes out to play.😍
I had to dig around and find my (generous) sample of Jerai, but you’re so right.! This oil has turned into a gem. I cannot believe it myself. Before today I would have said it’s my least favorite of all AA Oud I’ve sampled. Now…it’s like a velvety incense Oud. Hard to believe the transformation!

Laal Jinko i just got from @Al Hashimi 😍

Arunachal Oud by Craft Oud: History repeats, and so does some legends are there with some other name. Arunacha Oud is reincarnation of certain legend Hindi Ouds.

I wish respected and dear Peter were here now, and he would have love this Arunachal.

Hindi Agarwood Is Back!

I swipe a lot of oils and realized I haven’t been putting my thoughts down here and probably should. Let’s do 3 from last couple days.

1.) Ensar/Oriscent Purple Kinam— this oil has a genuine purple note, some otherworldly fruit character which is just unreal. Most def unlike any other Oud I’ve ever sampled. It’s excellent, and probably would be a benchmark Malaysian Oud if not for…

2.) Agar Aura Cintaku— Taha makes the best Malaysian oils, period, IMHO of course. This oil, one of the highest grades from the Sik Jungle series, makes me have a feeling of “welling up”. It’s just so beautiful it almost brings a tear to my eye. Only Kyara gives me this feeling. The green, sourish/sweet, jungly, woody, dense brain whack is almost perfect-has that “groan factor” we all know. This is a 10/10 Oud for me. When this is gone I will miss the oil dearly.

3.) Rising Phoenix Bija Hainan 99– THE ONLY oil I own which has a distinct white, yellow kinam note. There’s something subtly dusty about it as well which makes it oh so addictive. Nearly a perfect oil. It’s so so thick I often wonder how I went through 2 grams, and am VERY happy I picked up a second bottle along my journey. A reference oil with some genuine medicinal qualities. I am heating a tiny sliver of some high grade Hainan wood right now and this oil captures this scent so so well. I’m indebted to JK for a few things and some day I’ll get around to the “tease” I promised while visiting his Forest Cabin Oudlovers paradise in December of 2021. 😊

Hind Sultan (Assam 1980 ) SQ by Oudist. Good stuff, so smooth and rounded
Going forwards I will not be rubbing my oils onto my skin, instead swiping and then leaving the 'streak' of oil there - am curious to see how this impacts longevity and scent perception etc. I usually smear the oil to basically coat the entire back of my hand, thinking the better distribution would be good, but I will just leave these streaks on the back and of my hand and that can be the 'smelling point'

You make me swipe the Cintaku , and indeed this was the best taha period oils
also Pailin Special K

Al Hashimi Prachin layered with Siam II for Salat al Tarawih (the daily Ramadan congregational night prayers that last for around 2 hours)... I honestly can't believe how good this Prachin is for the first 45-60 minutes. Notes of ripe guava, succulent dates and a sublime dark resin note encasing it all. It doesn't belong in an oud oil at this price point, but yet it is there.

madness, ~11hrs later and I can still (faintly) smell this. I usually can't perceive an oud after 5hrs. shall continue this method of application to see if other oils get improved longevity
