Dahn al Oudh Moattaq 6ml of aged Indian oil
[Ouddict.com] Oud of the Day

Today I’m wearing for the first time a freshly distilled wild Sri Lankan oil I personally distilled here in California. All glass setup, sterile 4 day soak ,ran a bit hotter then Most people think is ok for the first 2 days and then set it back a bit for 4 more days of low heat . That’s kinda backwards from how most people think you should distill but I’m just not most people .
These projects are time consuming and complicated due to shipping and logistics and I’ve been sitting on this wood for a year thinking about how to go about this project.
The wood came my way via a Dubai secondary cleaning house and were of a good grade close to the chip.
The oil has put me in a state of bliss , it’s fresh like the clothes off the drying line on a summer day with tones of blue and wisps of mint but don’t think minty green it’s more fresh cool soft mint that screams blue freshness
With a drydown that exactly matches the highest grade Sri Lankan chip on low low heat .
The oil is beautiful with deep layers and above average projection with amazing silage.
No question, my best oil yet !!
This is not a sales post , the oil is not being released until it’s cured but after wearing it today i had to post . It is my oud of the day and might be tomorrow too🎉🎉🎉

Congrats on the new project. The scent dynamics will change once it’s cured.

When I collected my Hainan, I was not really impressed by its smell. However, I let it sit for almost a month and now it’s probably the best oud I ever smelled in a while.

Royal Taif Oud (1980s) Dr Incense

JUST arrived and I absolutely LOVE it. Reminiscent of when we went to the international rose test garden in Portland, Oregon. It encapsulates the entire profile of a rose in full bloom. This has exceeded my own expectations.
I think you should post this under attar/mukhallat of the day and not here as this is a blend. 😉

Leen - Al Shareef

This is the third cultivated kinam oil I’ve tried and probably my favorite these. It opens like a low key version of EO’s fabled Nha Trang, then settles into a tranquil note, which is an unusual green vegetal smell with hint of the sweet note of a rose absolute. A little later there’s a note of salted plums.

This isn’t NT, but there’s a little similarity at the opening. It’s also more mentholic and the smell is less piercing. It however also wont set you back a mortgage payment or three.

Oud Royal 1982 - EO/ Scent Legends

The first oud that ever made me giggle. Upon an inelegant attempt to sniff from the bottle I ended up with a tiny dab on the tip of my nose.

And the note that stick out was….strawberry bubble gum. I’m guessing it’s Methyl Anthranilate, a natural compound clearly smelled in labrusca grapes used in some Korea wines, and less clearly in concord grapes and strawberries. It’s a compound some plants use as insect repellent so plausible that agarwood might sometimes develop this compound as well.

I’ve not dabbed the oils but from the bottle it’s clear an extremely fine, deep and unique oil. From the bottle there’s also no trace of the strawberry gum which makes this oil even more intriguing.

I remember this stuff. Nice maroke oil
