Craftoud Kampot Red. Someone walked into my office, sniffed the air, and said, “smells like a doctor’s office in here.”
That’s just good medicine.
Try craft oud’s Nagaland Classic on the same person, I am curious about his reaction🙂

New Global Asia by Feel Oud. A triple co-distill of Phillipines, Sri Lankan & Cambodi.
Smelling off the dipstick...this is strange. Super high pitched, alcohol-type smell, turpentine-esque. Not appealing at all.

On skin it's much nicer after a few minutes. Feels dark and gloomy - I can't pick out facets of each area really, it's a real odd one.
I put it on an hour or so ago but didn't pay much attention to its progression.
I’m a fan of this one’s profile.

Habzoud Zamarad 2. Described as having a crystal clean punch and a lovely aroma on Habzoud’s site, I gotta agree. My neophyte oud nose gets a hit of camphor (which I think I love — reminds me of my time in Japan), but I’m not really sure I actually know what that smells like. A plumber at our place last week thought he was smelling fresh paint when I was wearing this oil. I was smelling yum.

As the weather is warming up, it’s time to bring out the Sri Lankan oils.
EO: Sinharaja X.
This was a great buy at the time.
Perhaps $299 for 3gs back in 2015 or so? Regretting not buying 3 bottles.
This works very well on my skin.
Not very overly fruity. Much drier, like beach drift wood baking in the sun with the ocean air.

Revisiting this.

After a voluntary break from oud, I made a blind buy of Feel Oud's Vietnam Royale and was so blown away that I immediately bought a bunch of other samples. I can't believe what I've missed!

But starting with an oldie that many may remember... Kakaya from Al Hashimi. At launch in late 2019, this was an excellent but novel oil - a touch spirity and with a unique leavening of jackfruit (a bit like overripe bananas if you haven't encountered this tropical fruit). Today, it has evolved into a beautiful oil. The jackfruit scent is now faint, and in its place, there is a deep and almost regal oil with the faint cola notes of Malaysian ouds and the tiniest hint of tropical fruit. Could probably sell for twice the launch price today.

Feel Oud Vietnam Royal

This is a modern, clean distillation oil made from what Russian Adam calls "treasure-grade" wild Vietnam chips and is so perfect. It's a heady and indescribable blend of green notes, with tremendous sillage and more an performance than a scent. The notes are mellifluous and intriguing, dancing from one scent to another and from breath to breath. My wife describes it as 'a mix of many woods like cedar and sandalwood, less creamy and floral than your usual ouds.' It's wonderful!

Ceylon Oud by Mr Ziyad
Mysore Royale by Tabeer Oud

Walla Patta has something extraordinarily gorgeous. Ceylon Oud exudes a nice Ceylonese Oud aroma. Mysore Royale was copper distilled. Metallic scent punch is still strong enough even after a pretty long time.
