Jinkoh Store Brunei Qi. I freakin need more of this oil, really do.

Got this one really fresh about a year and a half ago and dint' care much for it. In my mind, it was good for expanding my palette but was probably thinking of selling it down the road. This, however, blossomed with aging and it's now top 3 Jinkoh Oils to me thus far. Insane oil. Profile-wise, and quality-wise. I get numb lips and nose tip if I sniff it up close for too long. It has a beautiful duality about it. The base is thick, dense, and resinous, with a nutty, old, vanillic wood aroma. Definitely shares some nutty qualities found in Malinau oils. The top is mentholated-green, black incense smoke, and green apple that sometimes gets sweet rather than sour. It feels like there's a gap between these two layers like the top always screens the base until the end when the density of the base layer prevails and the top dissipates. Can't get enough of this.

Emperor of Kedah V2 - Jinkoh Store
Purple! Its true. If you never smelled this color in an oil before, you will definitely smell it here. Its a bouquet of purple flowers with a resinous spicy cola and honey background mixed with a slight hint of medicinal quality. Its so uplifting that I would wear it when I feel ill or demotivated to brighten up my mood.
Malaysian oils are growing on me with every oil I test
How's this one compared to the V1? What are the differences in the scent profile?

Malay oils are something else brother! Quite beautiful indeed! I have Kedah V1 and it's sublime! I'm looking to get V2 because I'm running out of v1 sadly but I enjoyed and that's what counts!

V2 and V1 are different but both share that core purple DNA. V1 feels more airy and that purple kinamic note is bright, boozy purple concord grapes. V2 is more reserved and not airy like V1, but it is more denser and the purple here is more of a burgundy character.

Both are great, but V2 feels ultra-plush. The oil takes time to warm up and showcase itself, whereas V1 you get that purple kinamic burst right from opening the dipstick.

Sadly I didnt put my hands on V1 *yet*
Maybe other members have both and can compare
I have a generous sample of V1. Not a huge Malay fan, but this is the most satisfying that I've ever tried. The most complex would be AA Maluku. I didn't get V1 at the time because it shares some nuances that I also get with Emperor Of China, and the rest of the profile while still awesome, I felt it wasn't needed.

I think that's a great comparison. Thanks

Grand Emperor Pursat from Jinkoh Store.

Interestingly, breathing this *feels* like a kodo session with Cambodi wood, but there is no smoke or woodiness; the oil is pure colour. Prismatic and analytical, like soft, concentrated beams of light layered in spectral harmony. Red, purple and gold on a blue sky. The ebbing warmth of a glorious sunset.

As someone who appreciates aloeswood and incense, I can feel your pain. If you wish to get medical insight for the purpose of finding out what's causing your diminished sense of smell, why not visit a neurologist and/or an otolaryngologist after consulting your internal medicine doctor?
It's weird, only seems to apply to natural scents. I'll give it a while longer before trying to go down the doctor route. Thanks

Does it still happen if you repeatedly smell from the bottle/dipstick, or only after application? I find longevity can be quite dependent on the moisture balance of my skin.

Hainan Qinan by Imperial oud. A cultivated kinam oil. It smells good, has projection and if you keep smelling your hand the aroma will stick inside your nostrils.

the opening has this hay smell that lasts a couple minutes and is very soft. then I am getting some whiteflowers kind of magnolia like aroma, micro hints of violet, micro hints jasmine and a note i find in the shoyeido kyara bits for the kudotsu that is like a bubblegum kinda aroma. mid notes giving me a sort of strawberry powdery aroma and of course the cultivated kinam smell that is almost lemony in nature. Thats it so far as i am in the mid notes.

does not resemble cultivated kinam on the heater unless it is just void that creamy vanilla and creamy kinam haze, but more room temp kinam kinda aroma with added other notes as well.

i am getting notes that i have seen in other oils before including oricent oils. especially the chinese ones. i cant say ensar distilled his oud oils with added cultivated kinam tho, but it def is giving me flashbacks from royal kinam v2 and other chinese oils. could be that imperial oud added some super hainan agarwood at like 5-10% along with the ck? i am clueless.

I am really happy it is not giving me a headache!!

conclusion, in my opinion as an oil in general i give it a 7.5/10 wonderful oil to make attars with!
it is pretty nice, was expecting way more magic, less lemony and more kinamic oomph but it is an alright oil.

Hindi/Hainan from AlHind OuD
great oil for a cold morning in the mountains
I get a really nice clean Hindi with slight facets of a floral but not defined enough to single it out but it adds to the overall oil and makes this (to me) a very modern Hindi ,smooth and very office friendly while still having depth.

Good question - after application. I never smell it from the bottle/applicator. I'll give it a go tomorrow.
I actually wore oud today - 'Shocking Asia' by Feel Oud. Must be an upcoming release as it's not listed on their site. I was sent a sample of Asian Wild too. This was super familiar in its profile but I couldn't mentally pinpoint the region. An interesting oil, not very barn/funky, and it actually was perceptible for a while after applying it.

I'm not wearing Jardin de Bengal by Feel Oud, will be heading to bed soonish so figured I'd give it a go. A nice funk to this, not overly ripe. Good Hindi to my nose

Gaharu Hutan by Tabeer Oud.
What what what!! I applied this maybe 2hrs ago...and I can still smell it?! :O there may be hope for me, yet

This is a nice profile, an Indonesian oil from Malinau. Kinda vegetative, smooth, somewhat earthy. Was a bit smokey at the start but that's faded back, now. It's not sweet, it's kinda "bright" yet damp. Quite enjoying this.

I have really wanted to try this one.

Then again there are lots of oils I want to try and this one is pricey. Sounds great though.

I will say, I’ve never been disappointed with anything I have received from JK. His new gens (while pricey) still punch well above their weight class. Sadly haven’t tried his EMW yet. But Tiger King II and Haflong Kinam are top notch and definitely well worth what I paid for them!

He’s also having a sale right now for the month of July… good time to buy! 😀
