@mesOUD - Centra
@mesOUD - Merauke

Centra
is a Beccariana oil, one that I don’t see distilled too frequently and this being the only example of the species in my collection. Quite an interesting scent, started off with a leathery, jungle mud and crisp air. Similar to other Indonesian oils of the region. There was a light ashtray tobacco scent present as well, but in the background was a musky like indolic floral. As it sits the florals have a sweetness that comes through to them as well, muskiness becoming more of a raw barn like funk. Further along you get the resinous oud chip getting heated funk too. A blast to follow its transitions, gotta study this one some more.

Threw on Merauke before bed, an easy oil to love. Started with a slight tobacco, blonde tobacco like and roasted coffee beans. A little vanilla sweetness and a slightly leathery earthiness to it. As it sits a dusty chocolate a damp smelling mud come out a bit more too. The coffee note in this oil is certainly one of my favorite aspects of this one. Makes me want to get my hands on different A. Filaria oils like this and see if how wild the region and species can get. Another night basking in beautiful wafts of oud thanks to brother Mehmet.

IO Nha Trang Ultima, my favorite Viet oil, most likely. This is the only non-Oriscent oil that has the same "old wood" or "ancient wood" quality that permeates most of the Oriscents. Apart from them I never got that feel with other oils. And there were/are a few other Viet/Nha Trang oils labeled "2010/11/12" distillation year. My guess is the wood used for the Ultima was of a different quality. Amazing oil.

@Habz786 - Raja Hijau
myoudshop - Pahang

Decided to finally try my two oils from the Pahang regions of Malaysian this morning, as I had plenty of time to sniff. Raja Hijau is an A. Rostrata oil and Pahang is an A. Hirta oil. Some similarities, but wearing them side-by-side certainly highlighted the differences in both.

Raja Hijau I feel like I talk about here all the time, but wearing it with the other oil has revealed just how airy and vaporous it really is. The initial blast of blue aquatic candy florals and gasoline is truly something special on this one. Like gasoline vapors of crushed up jasmine and blue hard candies are being lifted into your nose. There’s a syrupy sweetness to the scent that starts to become more prominent as it sits. Lemon-lime like citrus syrupy soda and beach shore brisk air, and airy heady florals.

Pahang on the other hand, opened with a much fruitier and creamier opening. Still having some of the same floral aspects, but now presenting more dried fruits. I feel like I revert back to saying prunes/apricots/raisins as my dried fruit of choice when reviewing, so I don’t want to say it smells like those exactly, but some sort of dried fruit. It could be even more like a guava or papaya in the way it is a funky tropical shade to it. There’s a present custards warm creaminess here too. I’d say this is the biggest difference to me between the two.

RH being much sharper, airier, and heady sugary sweet. Whereas Pahang is more of a creamy fruits and purple candy florals. RH being more a blue green shade, and Pahang having more of a golden creaminess to me. I did have some strong tea here though, so these observations could just be Qi induced rambling. I’d say you can’t go wrong with either, but y’all already know how much I love Raja Hijau especially.

Laos - Aquilaria. crassna...

Lovely oil, glad I put this on today, it has been 5 hours since I put it on, and someone came to see me for a couple hours and had an hour or so of heavy talking so some notes may be missed due to memory and lack of smelling it as much when I was talking to a friend.

Anyway, starts with a very rich, resinous opening, with sweet red berries, sour cherry, and a petrichor + agarwood scent at the same time, as it evolved the sweet red fruits and sour cherry would be in competition and sometimes it would be more sour (most of the time) and sometimes more sweet, eventually they would form together (I likened this oil to the Koh Kong 2015 by Craftoud with some of the scent) into a paste, with agarwood and resinous notes coming together to start multiple incense-y notes here and there, and sweet honey notes. Spring waterfall-like notes, very translucent playing with all the other notes, making it feel crystal clear and cooling, after an hour a very soft, subtle minty note appeared, and got stronger and stronger but remained soft and gentle, creamy smoke of agarwood incense and some florals, mixed with this red fruit puree and other sour and sweet fruits that came into play, with a cooling, slightly mint note that starts to dwindle. 5 hours later, you get a slightly bitter, soft gentle fresh note , with a feeling of airy-ness, florals, leather and woody incense.

Lovely oil from @mesOUD. I am definitely buying 0.5g of this soon. I dont buy oils in large amount as much as I used to, the next oil I am buying that is over 1gram is from @Habz786 , his Maroke Qadeem and Hijau he set aside for me 😉.

EDIT: This oil also definitely has psychoactivity!!! At the start and even in the mid heart, it gave me an excited uplifting effect, and maybe some right now on the base.

Agree with all of that. Golden Triangle is an oud I must forever have a quantity of. It's really very complex (i believe). It goes through so many transitions throughout the day it's incredible.

@AlHindOud - Oud Qaysar

Got this bad boy in finally and immediately had to swipe it. Off the bottle I got sour yogurt and farmers cheese type funk. After applying it becomes more like a sulfuric gas. A floral sweetness with a spicy clove tobacco like heart. Pungent and acrid at the same time. Really unique oil. Has some feelings of Borneo to me from the one oil I have from the region. No idea though, as this is a first impression and I just swiped it 30 minutes ago😅 Will continue to swipe this one and try to uncover all its secrets.

Quick edit while still awake: There’s a hint of muddy earth. A slight bitter earthy clay and dampness along with the sulfur and clove spice. Swampy even maybe. It’s possible that sulfur gas is shifting to a more swampy muddy core.

Our experience of these oils, woods and aromatics are so subjective and individual. There are so many factors at play like general experience, mindset, environment and cultural background, to name a few. In saying all of that, my subjective experience with this oil has been phenomenal.

Taking the cap off for the first time, the aroma hit me like a train and I experienced "mind buzz". Only one other oil in my modest collection has had this affect on me. I have not experienced this with the Taha's oils I have sampled and there are a few who claim they get it from his high end oils. Anyway, this was pure concentrated oudy bliss. I let it sit for a few days to give it time to settle from travel and applied a small amount today. Again, mind buzz!!! I actually wasn't expecting that. The oil feels uplifting and grounding at the same time. Very hard to put into words. I can best describe the aroma as a fresh (like sea breeze), green and mentholic. Sweet flowers and just a general sea mountain freshness. The dry down is this sweet oudyness and just sublime.

I will put this away for a month or two and visit it again but I am thinking this oil will be for meditation and quiet contemplation only. Stunning.

I was very happy after seeing this comment.
But then I made an inner journey about what makes me happier.
I mean, whether it's doing something really successful or whether it's doing something that makes people happy, as in your experience.
And I think it's more important to have done something that people can be happy with
And I felt happy again that this second option was the one that made me happy😂😂😂😂

@Fragdoctor made me want to revisit Qirose after watching his review on IG.

It's getting smoother & smoother with every visit , I went from not liking the opening to absolutely loving it. It was just something I couldn't wrap my head around at first but now...especially today it was soooo good. Cooling kinam with a nice woody punch & that spicy slightly sweet rose ! I see ppl only mention the white kinam but personally I feel the green kinam is just as prominent as I get a touch of green up top that brings out the green/earthy aspects of the rose , maybe it's just coming from the rose itself ? Who knows ? Anyway hats off to Mehmet for this unique beauty !

It took me a couple of sniffs to really tune in to this one as well. The rose was stronger than I expected it to be!

"Finally someone agrees ! I thought it was just me at first." (Screwed up the quoting somehow)

I could generally smell the quality ck / rose mix from the get-go but the oil first really got my attention several hours after applying it.

I just applied another healthy dab and I'm trying to reproduce the experience. The oud and rose together have a top note facet that brings "3 in 1 Oil" to mind in a way. Many ouds have some kind of vaguely petrol aspect... it's funny because as a kid I always loved the smell of three in one oil, it reminded me of rose a bit, and figured I was an oddball for liking the scent.

I am waiting for that dark resinous chewy oud note to reappear

@AlHindOud - Oud Qaysar

Second day in a row wearing Oud Qaysar. I have read that this sour yogurt and farmer cheese funkiness could possibly be from a Hindi, Burmese, or even Phillipines wood. Unsure of exactly where, but the scent of funky sour and dairy like yogurt from the bottle is clear as day. Afterwards you’re met by a potent sulfuric like gasoline. It’s like a mix of potent petrol vapors and clove spice, producing a unique sulfur like smell. Further along I get a bit of diesel gasoline, and the sulfuric aspect has shifted to a more sour tamarind with a hint of sweetness. There’s are bits and pieces of floral candy like sweetness here in the heart of the oil as well. Something like a Malaysian possibly, but not too potent to be sure. Further in the drydown I believe I’m getting more sour fruits, tamarind, and a woody shaving like smell. Still with a remnants of the initial cheesy funk. If I had to take a guess again from the second swipe, I’d say this is a Hindi, Burmese, phillipines, Malaysian mix of some kind. Although I know that doesn’t really narrow it down, and I haven’t tried any neat phillipines oil to be sure. Maybe a Hindi and Malaysian mix if I had to solidify an answer today.

Alhindoud- Imperial Koh 2022
Last time I got a golden bright sunshine when I applied the oil on its own.
Today next to the Jumah 2 attar (as it also has prominent tobacco nuances) the whole scent experience is focused on the tobacco, spices and nutty facets. Has a strong opening (projects far off skin) with incensy, tobbaccoey wafts and up close it goes into a more spicy, tobbaco and dried fruits. The opening is pretty unique for all koh kongs I smelled before, as it is a bit edgy and sharp and offers a slight different color spectrum compared to other more destinctive green or red openings of my Koh Kongs.
In the heart the candy/fruity sweetness creeps in slowly and my new gen sweet oils loving Heart cant resist this beauty. Amazing red candied aroma as I like my koh kongs to be.
This would be amazing in a tobacco perfume, it will be more amazing with age for sure, it is amazing if you want a different experience with a slight traditional incensy hints at the opening!

Did you get the rubbery smell I was talking about ? It’s so distinctive.
And you’re right the medicinal green notes are there in the base

Grandawood - "Revival" Have been wearing this a bit now and went and bought 1.5g of it it's that good. This is NOT a Merauke oud but it may as well be. The distiller really knows his shit. From growing the trees,stimulating the oil production through to harvest and getting it into a bottle all done to perfection and experience. I am in no way saying I'm an expert in fact quite the opposite but this blows me way with it's complexity and depth particularly because it is not a Merauke but smells like one. Dark and rich like a nice toasty blanket on a winters day while sipping on a mug of hot raw cacao and a dash of chilli. Plenty of bang for your buck with this one. Plus it's a cultivated so there will always be more where it came from. :thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

I had to read Trent's listing for this again because I also just remembered it as being a Merauke but its actually from just outside Singapore 🤯

Enjoying some HM Royal Laos from @SULAYM and Oud Al Aqsa from @AlHindOud . Both are quite different from one another, HM Royal Laos reminds me of a semi roasted oolong tea, slight tartness with an underlying sweetness, with an effervescent leaf quality to it, think autumn leaves, accompanied with an overall dryness. Oud Al Aqsa on the other hand showcases a deep mentholic profile, sitting atop the characteristic, umami like resinous Filaria body, here distilled with the complete absence of anything remotely harsh, and then further aged. So much of what's here escapes description!
