Heavily swiped AA King K Nam and Vietnan special K for the day. Very close in my opinion. I would take either. I was even thinking about mixing them, lol but I'll refrain. More buzz in KKN and more base in the VSPK. Other than that they both share the same multidimensional Vietnamese profile. Creamy sweet oleoresin, slightly nutty, cinnamon, a hint of cherries, a hint of earthiness, and green speckles.

I wasn't planning to douse myself but I accidentally poured about 0.5 grams of KKN and decided to rub it all over me and put a bit on a napkin to sniff occasionally. At least now it's all I can smell, and boy, it smells good.

Oudline km super ateeq. Delicious mature resinous vintage smelling Kalimantan.

Two of the most prized oils in my collection come from this company, but they were purchased directly from the owner and not from the shop.

I believe they just have a website, not sure about social media presence. Last I checked they sold both pure and diluted oud. At one point they actually listed the % of oud in the budget diluted oils, not sure if that's still the case. Just double check if you plan to purchase something from their website because I've always directly from Kamal.

Also keep your expectations reasonable... this is not a business focused on $500/g oud, but a pretty big vendor

When I say my most prized oils I don't mean the very finest I've smelled - I just mean the best quality/value to the point where I feel like those purchases were some of the best I've made (and excellent aroma for my tastes).

I was just curious , thanks bro.

Speaking of absurd value, I still can't believe how nice Habz's Zamrad II is, given the price. This is just a very fine oil from top to bottom, stupendous value to my nose. I have too many competing oils on right now to reflect on this but I need to revisit this one later.

I've been following you technique by putting some of my oil on my mask, the aroma is beautiful and it's on/off, it will surprise you once you forget about it : )

Swipe of the night is oriscent papuya - the green lord. A mystical scent profile which is very hard to come across now a days.
Is there a shortage of such woods or has the distillation technique changed now. A question that comes to my mind when I revisit the golden days of ensar.
The old school oriscents are really on another level much of the time 😁

revisiting the zamrad II now that my palate is clear. Smells like pristine, pure, top shelf artisanal oud to my nose. Rich syrupy sweetness, ambergris like notes, vanillin, oudy bittersweet background. Amazing stuff, smells on the same level or better as much more expensive oils I have sampled over the years.

I used to ask myself that question and realized the wood caliber has gone down. When you smell many of these old Oriscents and a few other old EOs, and then you go even earlier than that with oils like Oud Royale 1 and Meghalaya 1977, oils that were distilled using the most basic techniques and apparatus with no tweaks and tricks, you realize that the wood they used was of a different dimension. I mean, OR and Meghalaya, for me, rank among the top 10 oud oils ever experienced. I could never leave them out if I were to make a top 10 oud oils charting. And I have tried over 150 by now most certainly. They don't smell Merauke/Papuan or Hindi, they are in a class of their own. It's easy to tell why.

I agree with you. Both the oils you mentioned are astoundingly beautiful. Oud royale 1 is the simplest oil I’ve got in my collection and I call it simplest because it reminds me of human birth- pure and heavenly.
You’ve selected the swipe for tomorrow morning for me

Quick test swipe for the evening before going to bed. Many thanks to dear @Rezwan who shares my love for a good Hindi oil for pointing this one out to me. EO Oud Mostafa, the 2021 version, as there were quite a few O Mostafa oils over the years. I always wanted to own a pure oud oil that would have a profile focused on dark cocoa. I figured if there's a good region for that, it has to be India. I do own Kyara Koutan which does have that facet as well but that oil is not really one I'd call a "crave-swipe". I wanted something that I could swipe whenever I craved that unsweetened dark cocoa facet and didn't feel like spraying my Russian Oud. This oil captures that profile perfectly and it's beyond well-priced so won't feel guilty swiping it generously and often. No barn or off-putting facets, not resinous either, more of a dry wood profile with some spicy qualities, full-on dark, unsweetened cocoa, and maybe some faint red/purple berries. So satisfying. Can't wait to swipe it more and discover more about it. I wonder why there's no mention of this particular Oud Mostafa version anywhere. Seems to be flying quite under the radar. One of my best oud oil purchases as far as value for money goes. Brother @Rezwan, you the man!

@mesOUD - Oud Said

It was blistering hot and humid today so I wanted a clean and refined oud to wear. Oud Said fill that role perfectly. Polished leather and vanilla. Cigar smoke and a fresh out the shower cologne/aftershave like note that makes it perfect for warmer weather. Smooth salty ambergris like leather further along in the drydown. A winner in the gyrinops category, fully deserving of all the praise it receives.

The hottest and most humid day where I am too. And I chose the exact same oud for it as you. This is a surprisingly clean oil for the gyrinops variety. Deep leather and incense that is a complete profile in and of itself. You'd think it was a hand blended attar. Great stuff

Zamrad II from Habzoud again. Benchmark oud - rich, multifaceted, aroma is a little different every time I smell it. Not an off note to be found. Rich and savory/saturated slightly creamy and spicy opening, solid throaty presence in the mid notes. Beautiful dry down with rich resinous presence. This really smells like something that would sell for 3x the price I paid. I actually got the oil after a general recommendation from EJayb that Habz is unusually generous with his pricing and always stocks top shelf oil, my experience matches his.

I also just dabbed some Omar from An Najwa (assam 2020). This may be one of my favorite assam ouds. I don't recall what this sold for or what the origin story is but this has a really delicious resinous opening, a slight tang, barn that is not out of hand, and avoids getting into the heavy Band-Aid / antiseptic or soggy wood territory that some oils of this type get into. I remember this one making an impression on me right away, coming across as especially multifaceted. I really think there is something special in the opening of this.... an najwa really knows how to pick 'em!
