Brief first impressions of the oil, even though I have worn it many times but lately I have been going nose blind fast to a lot of oils, and have realised I have just been putting on WAAAAAAAAY too much lol, and my mental head space hasn't been right, so I was applying too much of oils, and now I found my sweet spot, which is 2 normal swipes, a half "swipe" or a dot and 2 other dots, (instead of 4-5+ fat swipes 😂).

This is nearly 3 hours in so I might have forgotten some, notes.

Starts off quite resinous (not as resinous as most Cambodi oils), and sweet agarwood notes, with nice sweet red fruits, and it was quite sweet, slowly in the background started showing a slight sour cherry note, then later on after settled and you are at heart notes, you get a very elegant, soft agarwood note, with a bit more resin notes, but pretty much the same (and they get weaker as you get hours into it), mintiness coming in softly and with a sword piercing, coming in and out throughout . Then there is a more detailed sourness, more sour fruit notes, cherries and possibly tart(?), clean forest notes, with a light airy leafy and greenery notes, heavy in the fruits, and spicy notes come in and out he mix quite often. As we move into later notes you get a nice frankincense-style citrus notes, combined with the fruits. There's beautiful resin rich and woodiness together that form a very nice agarwood incense note, that comes on for a period of time then goes and come back throughout the heart, its fantastic IMO, lovely incense note. Further we go in and it has notes of confectionary (like sweets), chocolate, and some (light) caramel. Then a woody creamy note, powdery sweet florals, with a spicy undertone, with some fruits popping up and down again every so often.
I remember when I put 10 fat swipes of Oud Yusuf on my chest when I was new to oud, I thought of applying it just like my cologne and edts. I was smelling real good that day🤣

@mesOUD & @YusaAromatics - Levent

Another light swipe of Levent this morning. I got a slight syrupy acetone like quality initially applying this oil today. Short lived though, only about 10 minutes until the bitter gasoline notes came through. Zesty citrus rind and oceanic gasoline heavy. Got a tad distracted with tea and a nap and slept through most of the middle phase. Woke up with a gorgeous creamy woody floral scent blissfully radiating off my wrist. Always a good day wearing this one.

Like a boss!

My daily wear all week is layered CK oils. I am very much enjoying the experience, especially the long lasting aspect of the oils. The dry down is for me where these oils have the potential to shine and really give that vietnamese style beautiful bittersweet woodiness. The top notes are generally so simple, bland, and sweet... pleasant enough but far less interesting.

Ouds of the days
Mesoud - Tarakan Qadeem
Mesoud - Koh Kong
Mesoud - Oud Said
Jinkoh store - Emperor Maluku
Jinkoh Store - Emperor Brunei
Jinkoh store - Tok Kun Qi
Yusa - Murasaki
Faizal - 1990s Hindi
Enjoyed all of them from new-gen to traditional, from cheap to expensive 😁

AlHindOud - Thai Zen I really can't believe just how thick this oil is! Amazing colour as well. I know the description says there is zero barn but I can definitely smell it. Maybe not in a traditional sense but more like a very rich and dark funk. Lot's of fermented fruits going on here. This is now my go to Thai.

@mesOUD - Oud Said
@mesOUD - Dehnal Oud Hindi Amjad

Oud Said
for the morning. Sportscar leather, luxurious tobacco smoke, and a fresh out the shower cologne note that lifts it all up to a class of its own. The perfect scent for when you want to be approachable, refined, and the most suave gentleman out there.

Swipe for the night is the beauty Amjad. Resinous leather and horse stable funk. Barnyard bliss to a T. Bitter medinical leather and betel nut sourness. A melange of rough and tough aromas that is sure to satisfy any Hindi lover. Hefty swipes of funky traditional oud for me every night please.

It’s an An Najwa night for me. Sher Shah, incense grade Assam, and the incense grade is no joke. Lactic opening which I normally hate in ouds but some how it gets transmuted by a bullet quick run through of typical Hindi notes to remind you of its origin and then its oud chips on mica, dancing and bubbling in their own resin for the rest of the dry down. Flickering between sweet resin and searingly dry.
I decided to go for a second swipe before bed and added some of his Ruh Al Ward and topped that off with his Mysore Qadeem. Operatic is a good way to describe how I smell right now. Sweeping, epic, romantic vistas. Baroque dark chocolate musk, candied rose hips Incense clouds. This might be a love potion. If I could get down on one knee and propose to myself right now I would.

I never, in a million years, expected to sample these oils so it's been a blessing and privilege:

Mesoud - Vietking - Deep red (berries), freshness, bittersweet with the most memorable dry down. Very long lasting. IMO, a legendary oil.

Mesoud - Qirose - Bittersweet, CK soaked roses, Fresh mentholic....there's something in this that zones into my nose and at the back of my throat, like I could feel it as I was breathing in. Perhaps the most complex and unique CK oil I have had the pleasure of sampling. The soaking was a masterstroke and I hope we see Ver 2.0 some day.

Cheers

Both phenomenal oils ! If you love these you gotta try Levent.

Layered mid tier ck oils again... so much missing in these distillations / co2 oils compared to the experience on the burner BUT such wonderful clean kinam-like long lasting dry-downs in some of them.

These oils can't compete with or replace the more complex rugged distillations from material that is given more time to grow, but they create a unique area of fragrance that I am incredibly excited to see available. Been waiting for something like this for 30 years - affordable/ sustainable oil with truly fine (to my nose) bittersweet kinam dry down
