EO Borneo 5000 - such a fine Borneo oil. The top reminds me of AA Royal Sumatra V1 with a hint of lemongrass and vivid blue lotus, and then it shifts to this super rich and buttery wood smell with that antique dusty DNA many of the older Oriscent oils share in common. Perfect amount of sweetness, not too much nor too little. Very buttery...yumm

Oud Royale (Maroke 1982)

Finally acquired this revered oil and it delivered as promised. It’s a familiar scent from the past, it instantly transported me back to my childhood during Eid and embracing family members to celebrate and everyone is scented in Oud. The Oud oils of old are truly something else.

Note: This shares a similar energy with Meghalaya 1977.

Did you mean smelling like aged or qadeem ouds, or in that they're geared towards an older demographic?
Hmm..maybe neither? Honestly, I've never been able to smell a very aged oil, so I'm not quite sure if they have a specific profile. I think I mean more what @Dr B1414 said below, there's a kind of antique, dusty DNA. It could be associated with an older demographic since it's not fruity or sweet but I don't necessarily think of it that way. More so, they just smell kind of stern.

It is deep, purple, sweet and unmistakably Merauke profile when I take a deep breath.
Top 3 of all time.

An experience like this sounds so fantastic yet foreign at the same time.

A swipe of crazy phenolic burning resin Aceh oil from @Margon - wild smelling stuff!

EO Suriranka

Question for you all: is this an Oud OIL or an Attar/Perfume? It came in a wild Oud sampler yet on his website I can only see a spray by the same name.

Very bright menthol / camphor hit that fades somewhat faster than other funkier oils. There is this tiny note of diesel? Petrol? I don’t have the right words to choose from - a subtle element and only at first.

Fades into a cedar-like spice and some hints of sweetness remain.

Doesn’t seem to change as dramatically as some aged Cambodians and other oils, yet still interesting in the dry down.

I’ve taken to swiping on my wrist before bed to sometimes wake up to a nice whiff … in smaller dabs I can barely smell this in the AM - it does seem less persistent than others or maybe im just going numb from sensory overload 🙂
It's an oil. The link will take you to the product page (sold out).

So back in 2024 I got 2 grams of Oud Shah Alam from Alhind Oud 1 g in each v-vial. I happened to open the new vial today which was sealed until today in dark. I just took the remnants from the mouth of the vial and swiped on my hand. Could barely see any oil on my hand. But total opposite when I sniff my hand. Wow this oil is super potent.

When I smelled it for the first time I was pretty new to oud. I had a literal mind buzz at that time. I was hooked and today the smell made me remember that feeling.

Borneo Kita from @Oudique presenting novel top notes - oud always surprises it seems! Hard to describe what I am smelling in the top notes but at the moment it's reminding me of waxing cross country skis in my childhood, some kind of mineral/resin combination. Has a rich sweet oudy base, a vaguely patchouli-adjacent tea leafy complexity, very light peanut note, and (again) I was most struck by an unusual savory and mineral facet in the top - a bit of edge before the oil settles into that more familiar delicious sweet Borneo oud base. Very interesting oil it's going to take me a couple of more wears to really understand its development and performance, but I wanted to share something today.

Wore Ichigo by @YusaAromatics yesterday night. Great longevity even on skin. This was my fourth wear and it significantly changed/improved during the fourth wear. Not sure if it's the high humidity in the air or my nose just picked up on new facets. I initially dismissed it because it didn't have the "typical" fermented oud oil aroma but yesterday it gave me a strong aroma of a panha (a refreshing summer drink made with boiled raw mango, cardamom seeds and saffron). I love drinking panha and hence I have suddenly grown very fond of 'Ichigo'. Panha is certainly not something I associated with oud ever before. I am still not ready to refer to this as an oud oil (not questioning anything, of course! I respect @YusaAromatics craft, plus I am an oud newbie) but it presents itself as a wood oil that smells very delicious to me.

[Ouddict.com] Oud of the Day
More goodies to try.

Today I tried Royal Manipur SQ
Chocolate, tobacco, oudy resin,
dried raisins, and wood.
At drydown some incense.

Similar to Ajmal D/O Moattaq.

It’s so satisfying to smell Hindi ouds of this genre, although I prefer a more barny profile with aged oils, the barn creates a certain magic when aged (like in the Meghalaya SQ).

Anyhow, Royal Manipur is another solid good oil, pure oud vibe from start to drydown.

Koh Kong when non fermented has alot of fruity aspects, each time i am amazed by how fruitfull oils from Cambodia can be.

Pretty much every sample set I have received has expanded my conception of what falls under the umbrella of oud... it's a pretty deep rabbit hole, reflecting the fact that there are genetic, terroir, pre-processing, distillation, and post processing variations that all have significant impact on profile (not sure about terroir's impact relative to the others, but I assume). A complex and deep and baffling rabbit hole with all kinds of side passages.

The difference between a typical Pursat oil on the one hand and a classic Hindi on the other is pretty dramatic. It's kind of interesting to reflect on to what degree these really share olfactory characteristics.
