Borneo Essence by IO.
A lovely light oil that is suitable to wear in public.
A clean, gentle, woody scent similar in texture to cardamom or like a very clean sap and roots scent mixed with ambergris for added depth with some spiciness giving it a well rounded character. Not for introspective late night enjoyment, best for work and for going out.

Oh man bad luck. I don't know what I would do without smelling my daily dose of oud...probably start shaking 😱

Thankfully I've woken today and feel fine. I'd been sorting out a lot of old clothes and felt a sneeziness come on, maybe it was really dusty or something. Few hours later and it was non stop sneezing, nose running like a river 🙁

Phew. Crisis averted

Been wondering what's your favorite oud to wear lately?

Thank you @Grega 🙂
Today I am wearing Ateeq & Santal X by Al Hashimi and enjoying them both.

Favourite oud lately....oooof, that's a tough one! I actually have no idea :O
I know the feeling. Ouds really are so different that it is impossible to choose as each presents a unique experience.

How does Santal X compare to regular sandalwood?

I just decanted some of my Yaqoot for a friend and swiped all the residue from the pipette on me. Aaaaah. Can't get enough of this. Musk and oud work so well together. In a blend certain notes are accentuated in both that would otherwise be more in the background when standing apart.

Nice! do u combine both oil or u wear them alone?

Swiped on different parts, about 3-4 inches apart I'd say.

It's definitely different, not as "light" and has a much heavier tone to it - it's darker in scent profile. Very very thick too.

Borneo essence, IO

This one is quite different from the other oils I have smelled from the Borneo region. My experience with oils from here is limited however. This oil has a complex herbaceous top note, it is a very bright oil with complex multilayered pungent aroma, not especially woody. Once it transitions to the base note the scent is quite different and it is a dry light dignified and very woody aroma.

I have only sniffed this a couple of times so I will update this if my thoughts change later.

Had a wonderful taraweeh prayer with EO Sultani 1990 tonight. It was plucking all the right chords. That’s an oil that sometimes I feel lacks punch in the top notes (like maybe some of the top end has been lost over the years), but as I’ve said before, different nights with the same oil can be wildly different, and tonight was a winner.

Curious if anyone has smelled both this one and THE Maroke, the original Oud Royale, is the S90 reminiscent of it at all? Or just not worth mentioning in the same thread?
