I've noticed some samples that I've owned for a year and half+ start to become quite flat and the scent can become hard to pick up on. I've had it with quite a few Agar Aura oils, the oil has hardened/congealed and stuck to the plastic sample it's contained in.

I too live in the UK and store all my ouds behind my couch, away from the heating and with a black cloth draped over the top of them all. I've had no problems with bottles and it's random which samples it's affected. Generally my older AA samples which came in these plastic screw lid bottles are the worst affected.
Interesting.

Do you always request glass dips ticks or do you use request vials which are used with toothpicks to extract the Oud?

[Ouddict.com] Oud of the Day

Finished off the evening with a stunning oil from Habzoud. This has to be one of the prettiest Oud oils I have come across in my journey, delicate in its profile but packs a serious punch in its delivery (others will smell this on you quite easily)
It has an almost floral quality in the opening with a honeycomb like sweetness. There is a slight bitterness which balances things out somewhat, it was not as bitter as I was expecting given what others have said. There is no barn qualities at all in this oil. Slow cooking at a low temperature with no soaking beforehand has resulted in a marvellous oil from the Koh Kong region. I am sure I will be purchasing other oils from him in the future InshaAllah .... A beautiful oil MashaAllah and a great service from Habz as usual ...

Would have really liked to try but 1g is too much to try a sample...

Pichet’s J7
Thai/Cambodi with a little soak.
@ $139 a tola, it’s a guilt free swipe.

I really don’t mind swiping a well done factory grade oil, even if the feed stock was not incense grade wood, Crassnas are quite perfumey.

At that price I wouldn’t either. What is “Pichet’s J7”? I don’t understand the reference.

@Oudamberlove I've been looking at those for a while. They're definitely reasonably priced. How's the quality overall?

I need a sanity check here, because I've not encountered this before.
Wearing Ensar's Suriranka 2.0 for probably the 2nd time, bought it a month ago. The rod has never touched my skin, my hands were freshly washed.
I've had this on for about 2 hours now and we've gone from lovely blue-green menthol / floral oud to an underpinning of what I'm going to politely call fresh sweat.
It's not barny, but it has an animalic / sour tang to it that I was not expecting at all. Am I just having an off day in terms of skin chemistry? Is this just a more challenging oil to enjoy?

On a scale from 1 to 10, I find that the quality of Pichet’s oils range from a 2 to a 7.
Sri Lankan oud is relatively new in our niche market, and most of them sold young (near fresh distills), so they haven’t stood the test of time. I’ve had Sri Lankan oils turn in an undesirable direction before, so aside from other factors beyond my scope of determination, one can only hope that their Walla Patta oud will give them good service. There was a Sultan oil that turned south on me, so it’s not limited to just Sri Lankan oils. I also had an oil by a top distiller from a prized region of Borneo, the Nunukan Regency, which gone south (became undesirable), when I mentioned it to him, he told me that his stock didn’t go bad, and yet it was no longer for sale right after that:Cautious:

Earlier...Oud Ehab
This time around I’m really liking it,
I wish the opening would stay the whole way to dry down, very nice and pretty.
(should’ve got a whole bottle:Cautious:)

But right now, trying Ruh Gulab Red by
S M. Ayub M. Yaqub
Nice experience, good smell, but lasts only 1 hour, I got it from a reseller. I immediately compared it to some Turkish rose, and Taif rose....my wife likes the
Taif rose the best. Then I tried some Arabian Oud Taif Rose, it lasts the longest and is sweet, but is either part or wholly synthetic, but I’ll be darn, it smells almost natural, it was given to me as a gift from a seller in Saudi Arabia which I used to buy from, and is way better than another Arabian Oud Taif that I got from a different source.
I just bought some Alteya Bulgarian Rose otto, I can’t wait to try it when it arrives.
I'm a big fan of Alteya as well. Otto only though.

Ehab today as well - opening shares some similarity with czar ceylon - feel like there must be some walla oil in this blend. when it dries down tho it kinda starts smelling a bit stale IMHO. great for a daily driver tho. This is one that I'd consider for an experiment - with a 40% oil 60% alcohol split and making into a spray after it sits for a while to fully integrate. feel like this would make for a nice perfume - and the floral aspects might even open up a bit more - spraying this in my hair or something.

EO Maroke Sultan
Down to my last vial,
I am treasuring every swipe.
It is supposedly steam distilled,
it’s like a grey toned scent,
like rocks minus the mineral,
and it dries down to a rich resinousness,
which makes me think of Oud Royale 1😱
Heard about this oul but never smelt. I’m sure its amazing!
