Final swipe for the day

Agar Aura Royal Maluku

Till date this for me is Agar Aura's best Oud I've experienced. Right up there with all the ouds I've experienced.

The oceanic opening with some florals notes, some spices, green undertone, feels like u doing Monkoh with a ceram Agarwood..

Geez you guys wear a lot of oud. Aren't you all supposed to purchase this essential oil as an investment to resell years later and make some ducats? I'm wearing Oudimetary's Royal Thai (probably got that name wrong). I have a wee bit and it smells fantastic. There's the typical oud smell with fruit, but this stuff feels aged and different from fruity Thai oil. It's pretty comforting. I like this company a lot, and I am surprised they don't get more mention here because they offer affordable options for both the oud as perfume user as well as those that enjoy to burn agarwood, and the products are good quality.

Oudimentary gets mentioned a fair bit. I think it's pretty known they are fair and trustworthy in the industry. For not being a participating vendor here on ouddict I'd say they get a lot of attention

Alteya Bulgarian Rose Otto

Real otto!
Smells very good but I prefer Taif Rose.

I do notice that ottos do not have good longevity,
maybe absolutes do but lack the fresh rose vibe.

Note taken......and I have to apply it appropriately,
so I guess adding some rose otto into an incense stick recipe is out of the question. I just wish I knew what resins to combine to create a rose effect, but that’s an entirely different thread😀

A lot of people buy oud for enjoyment... the whole idea of trying to profit down the road when oils are rare and sold out has proven much harder than they make it seem. Much better to enjoy for personal use in my opinion.

There is an upside to buying oud as an investment, especially if the oils are not common oils. Perspective buyers will have access to oils that otherwise they would never have a chance to try.
Take Ouddict’s Scent Legends for example, an excellent venue, with only modest returns on investment. But I would frown at someone trying to sell a $500 legend for $12,000:Roflmao::Roflmao::Roflmao:

Even as a "proper" English speaker....... (not that's Queens stuff you need an encyclopedia , a thesaurus, and an IQ of 160 to understand...we all like to sound smart but geez!) .....I have never come to understand and have always been so very confused by the colloquial "taking a piss (or dump). I can only imagine how strange this sounds to someone learning English for the first time which is already so confusing and makes no sense.

why on earth would any say they are "taking the [sic] piss/dump etc....why would anyone ever do that ?

In truth , you leave the piss and pooh in the toilet. One Hope's after ample flushing not only after but during for the poor "bloke" (see I can speak it! ) that you just warmed the bench for.

But the way just to remain relevant:

Day: EO B3k 2004 on the right hand and oud sultani on the left.
Night : AA syeds ascent

Our lovely Santal Clause is what we say in the UK "taking the piss" (I'm like 99% sure)
Most certainly. I do love the dialectal nuances and languages I get to enjoy here in this forum. Out of all cities in the world, in Chicago we obviously have a microcosm of the world almost as good as NYC (don't worry to the proud-type New Yorkers, we know you are the bestest ever and you have the best everything), but I can't say I hear English from England outside of the tourist areas here and personal friends, so I absolutely love this expression!

Yeah, languages can be gross. I can share a couple of icky Spanish phrases that really have no relation to their actual origin, but that sound great when you need to be a bit expressive. Crap, now that I think about it, I use these potty-mouth phrases several times a week. The best part is, the old peeps in our family also use it regularly.

Just as long as we have that cleared up about EVERYTHING! Especially pizza!
Non oud topic. BTW in Chicago pizza is thin and crispy cut into squares. Cracker crust. Super thin. The "deep dish" is something we order once every two years, and half of the neighborhood pizzerias do not even make it. I have about 25 pizzerias within 5 miles of my house, and less than half carry "deep dish." Growing up in the city, I didn't even have deep dish until I was a teenager and it was exotic to us, to show you how popular it is here. That stuff is for the Food Network fake pizza wars against NYC and tourists. Now, NYC pizza can be delicious. A nice, greasy slice with mozz. Nothing against toppings here, but I think a slice of cheese is heaven. Back to oud?

I love my Alteya. No rose otto is cheap, but I feel there is a bit of value with this otto. It's overwhelming, like all otto, I have diluted mine in jojoba. As you noticed, they do not have longevity. Do you dilute yours for wearing? Because of that strong initial blast, I have to dilute.

I guess since I was a lurker on Basenotes and for very long before I came here several years back, they didn't get their due mention, and I remember the amount of their mentions is less than the big guys. I admit, I don't have the time to review new posts like I used to, so I apologize and I am sure you are right about their mention here now. I truly enjoy Oudimentary. For both you and all members, their "Thai" decant I have is funky and my wife hasn't complained yet. It's beautiful. To be truthful, I never understood "barn" but I am figuring what people think nowadays. It's hay and horse manure. And fruit. I've always noticed a background with only very few of these ouds, but this is one of them. Cheers all. be safe.

The Alteya Rose otto has a good value indeed, I paid $55 for 2.3 ml shipping included.
Yes, all my ottos open with a blast, but I haven’t diluted any yet, I could see how an oil would slow down the escape of those volatile molecules.

Night oud swipe...Alkhalis Oud Kelantan
sometimes I smell a barn in this oil, sometimes I don’t.....haven’t figured out why quite yet.
This oil is a bit floral, with an oudy resin, and I can’t help thinking that it mimics a Thai oil.

Rose otto is just so darn intense for me...even nauseating as so many other non oud and sandalwood EO oils are to me. (One day I will have to wrap my nose around so primo blue lotus everyone goes nuts over)...if I try and combine RO with anything it just smothers it like a wet blanket. A good musk?, mysore? , or even lighter oud? WHAT OUD? WHERE DID IT GO? It would just get gobbled up. The only exception is if you have some real serious high grade allogocha....like Ensars Red Bhutan! Maybe in a ratio of 4 or even 5/1 oud to rose that would be a beautiful beast to ride!
