Super Hoi Ann from IO
Harba from Habzoud
WOW!!!!!
both of theses are way above any ordinary Oud
And were sold at a price I can not believe!!!!
Together they make my head ring and my soul sing !!! Thank you IO and Habz for providing this experience. Outstanding, transcendent and overwhelming

Yeah I feel the super hoi an was underpriced. It is a funny oil with some rough spots but it captures this certain aspect of good Japanese selected Vietnamese agarwood. Dense chewy kyara oiliness when strong, fading to a classic bright wood Vietnamese sheen. Five years ago I never would’ve thought that I would have this aspect of incense available in the oil form.

Weird thing I’ve pointed out about the hoi an: if I apply a big swipe I mainly get a sense of rich fermented wood - almost reminds me of Malaysian oil... with this rich oily old wood vibe. If I apply a tiny dab, I get that full kyara / Vietnamese wood vibe.

I interpret this as something like staring at computer monitor for the brightness is turned up to some absurd level and you can’t see all the detail. if you dial things down a little bit you can more easily appreciate all of the subtlety.

Or like really loud music. my first rock concert was AC/DC. It was so loud you literally could not hear the music it was just like a kind of buzz in your head. But I noticed if I plug my ears I could hear everything they were saying and all the details. So to me super hoi an is like this. A big swipe it’s like listening to AC/DC live without your ears plugged. You definitely get a full hard rock experience but it’s not the same as if you turn the volume down.

This new oil is amazing and really consistent with the quality I have come to know from habz
This is once again an oil that hits above the price.
Maylay ohhhh I love a good maylay!!!

Hey Jay - it would be awesome if you'd share your impressions? Does it truly remind of Green PNG oil?

Kilatan - so good! It's one of those cool things about vendor "signatures" that you usually only really hear about in the upper grades of oils. But kilatan, ibn, and the new one lindaraja - these all share a common powdery type thread (less so lindaraja which I'll get to in a second). I'm not sure if it's all the same distiller - if these are ones AH did personally or more of a commission with different distillers. But I wouldn't be surprised if they were all the same person.

Lindaraja - wowzers. Like hippy crack. The aroma is indeed like a perfume! And fwiw, the thinness of the liquid actually means you will use less per swipe. And because it evaporates on skin quite quickly due to its volatile nature, you can take 2 or 3 and still use less oil that 1 big swipe of a thicker oil. What really stands out to me besides the actual aroma which is indeed fizzy and green and blue with some pink fizz - but underneath the surface has this tangible smoke - but not the kind you'd get from combustion. More a vaporous smoke - like what you smell on your hair after burning oud next to you all day and then step outside and feel the aroma all around you. This stuff is addictive.

Mixing this with a stable oil will be interesting. I think it's got enough chutzpa to shine through in sandalwood - but a clear sandalwood would be ideal like habzouds new ramah one. Then maybe a drop of blue lotus and drop it in musk tincture to make a parfum level concentration. This would be any perfumers best friend for hitting epic top notes you couldn't dream of finding in anything other than Oud. I like this a lot - just gotta think of some ways to extend it's life on skin. It's too too good an aroma.
