I love how Oud can be so many things at once. Jamaal is finally smelling like sweet cherry dipped rosewood drenched in ethereal Kinam blossoms everyone speaks about.

In layman terms I’m getting spicy red wood, musky florals and incense. The heat plays a ridiculously strange role with the profile of this one.
I guess now you have one more reason to move 😁

Feel Oud Burma Savage
Thick consistency. Oils like this remind me why I adore Hindis. I love it.
Barn: Yes
Decay Notes/Putrefaction: No
I bought Burma Savage, not expecting it to be particularly barn-y, along with Jardin de Assam, which I did expect to be very barn-y. The extra money goes a long way! Jardin de Assam is very pungent, though I enjoyed the drydown many hours later. On the other hand, while Burma Savage has a strong barn opening, it's much more complex, with spice and sweet hay notes accompanying it. I'm really excited to smell how it mellows through the rest of the day!

Yes. As I said earlier, its a good barn. I have not tried Jardin de Assam yet, but Burma Savage's sweet resinous leathery dry down is amazing.

I'm curious, since I'm a newbie - are there other oils of this style that you'd recommend, sir?
There are no experts here brother. This is niche of the niche but still there are endless things to explore.
Apart from this and previous drop of oils, I do not have much experience with older feel oud oils except Royal Bengal and 777.

777 and Royal Bengal was a gift from an old connoisseur a couple years ago. I still remember, I wondered how someone could like the smell of 777. I guess, I would like to smell it again now and see how I feel about it.

Ahom Oud does a lot of traditional Hindis. Give them a try. Another one that comes to my mind is Oud Shuayb from EO or Tura from Lucky Oud.
Btw, HabzOud is offering special discount today. Their hindi come with high ratings as well.

My girl almost kicked me out of our apartment for swiping 777. She wasn’t disgusted.. she was SO ANGRY... like as if I did something terrible to her on purpose.

haha! Not surprised at all. Do YOU like it?

I smelt it when I was quite new to ouds and I clearly remember my aversion. I gave my sample away. I regret doing that now.
I think my taste has evolved from then to now, and I really want to see where it stands among other stink bombs that I have with me now!

I thought there was something compelling about it but it certainly didn’t get me interested in buying Oud. Does that make sense? I kept the sample around just as a reference but I basically thought Oud probably wasn’t for me. Coming back to it now, I still think it’s interesting but still not in my fav category by any stretch. I’ll see how much is in the vial... maybe I can send you some. I’d love to keep a little just as a reference but I’d be happy to pass a drop along... a little goes a looooooong way with that one. Haha

Someone had asked for Siam SK vs 4K. Here's a quick run down:
-4K seems higher grade/quality.
-SK: Bittersweet opening with some green/grassy aroma to it. Followed by juicy succulent fruity sweetness and continuation of the bitterness. Dries down to citrusy sweetness rather quickly. Reminds me of a lot of other SK oils from AA plus Tia Sang. In fact, very similar to Tia Sang (Vietnamese) but not as sweet or bitter as the latter.
-4K: Much more complex than SK. Opens with earthy, herbal sweet (also found in the Cultivated Kinam oil and reminiscent of a very watered down opening of Nha Trang LTD), followed by bitterness, mild flowery sweetness and eventually settles to the citrusy sweetness. In between the latter stages, there is the woody sweetness of the resin as well.
PS: What people might define as "oudy" drydown in most Asian Oud oils, my nose picks it up as citrusy sweetness.
