I’m wearing Kakojan right now. It makes me realize there’s not enough Assam oils that smell like this. It’s crazy how floral and incensy it is.

Fresh Vietnamese oil again today
About 13 days into this distillation and as I was changing out the propane tank and collecting the oil fraction I probably swiped at least 10 maybe 15 drops that ran down the outside of my narrow collector’s top lip.
Very excited about this oil but will be letting it sit for a while once it’s finished. Probably another 4-5 days of distilling and then it’s on to my first Thai oil project

How does this compare so far to MXL?

It has some of the same wood (20%) along with some shavings from a personal old backyard tree I spent a few years trying to get my hands on (70%) , and a kg of pretty good quality chips (10%)
10 kg in all went into the pot with a quick 1 hour boil to kill off any bacteria ( actually takes about 5 hours in total) then about 3 1/2 days of soaking, this is called a clean soak as no fermentation takes place.
About 15 days of distillation (?not done yet)
Over 3 Tola of oil so far and should be really close to 4 when I’m done.
Next : drying the water from the oil
( personal method)
Next: put away for a while to age and settle
