Hi dear oudfellows!
Today’s ouds : EO Aroha Extreme, same as Aroha Kyaku in my opinion, I am a little bit disappointed, even if I like A.K (I prefer his big brother EO Dulh Q).
EO Koh Rong : apricot, tutti fruity, nice.
EO Borneo 1 : very nice oil, powerful, earth soil after a thunderstorm.
EO Nanga Parbat
Hermitage Oils Vetitver Choco : the best vetitver I ever smell (I had about 20 different vetiver oils). Amazing oil! And for a price …. Pfff …. 10ml for 40bucks.
Today was a great day for me, as I received eight different oils (4 are samples).
So I also discover Hermitage Oils ambergris hearth stone tincture (3%) 5 years aged : it is the first time I smell ambergris alone as-itself (I am a newbie I know 😉). Very gentle smell, monotone but in a pleasant way, organic.
Hermitage Oils Persian Rose Otto : sweet oil, citrusy and fresh. I will use it for attar making.
And to finish, H.Oils Gurjun Balsam : nothing flabbergasting.
I wish you all a very pleasant day or night.
God bless,
Aleata

Thanks for the write up @Aleata
A good oil day having eight bottles arrive....🙏

Freshly distilled (May, 2022) wild oud from Sylhet.
- Spices, herbs, touch of ripe fruits (thankfully doesn't last too long), leather, touch of hay (wish it is a bit more prominent), woody, and very little funk/unpleasantness.
- There are some balsamic/incensy facets too. But, so far, it is only peeking through it's wood-inflected leathery nuances. Wish this part was a bit more prominent. If it becomes so in the next few months, I'd be very happy. No idea how this will change!

I am very close to call it a satisfactory sample purchase.

Olefaktory Green Malay and Cultivated Kinam first impressions.

(General conditions: indoors, late night, got home from work ergo nose not in peak performance)

GM
Makes me think of AA Ayu and Habzoud Zamarad, plus a crayon note. But where the other two continue with the perfume aspect GM reveals an incense grade chip oudiness. I wonder, is this what a Royal grade Malaysian oil from Agar Aura smells like🤔

CK
Soft flowery petal opening which changes and blooms to more of what an actual cultivated kinam chip smells like, then it blooms again with more oudiness, then later a kinamic mentholness, at this point the opening is mostly in the background while the oudy slightly kinamic mentholness is joined by a speck of sweet fruit. The oudy part of CK makes me think of Ensar’s Hong Kong Kinam.

I love the hermitage oils. I have a good bunch of them. I will share names of some of my favorites if you are interested.

RPP 2020 Panisagar, Tripura, India

Reminiscent of the scent of an adjacent region, Mizoram which has a savory nutty nougat sweetness.
Panisagar leans more toward a chocolatey, milky area with less savoriness.
cultivated Bangladesh wood chips I've tried before had a very similar chocolatey sweetness.
there is some leathery, star anise like elements as well.

the oil is very gourmand-y and addictive.
