For me I was reminded of “Green Gaharu” from Oudhasi (no longer in business regrettably) when I first smelled Ejayb’s green Malay.

My oud-du-jour is the same oudline Malinau i have been wearing for at least 10 years. This was a very innocuous oil at first and I didn’t expect it to age well, but it has really matured and developed some of that dark tang that aged oils pick up as all the sesquiterpenes oxidize into acetates and other more zesty aromatic oxygen byproducts.

No idea why my photos come in rotated 90° on this forum lol

mine do depending on if I take the photo with my phone sideways or not. Frustrating. How many ml is in that bottle?

Today I am trying the Cultivated kinam from @EJayB
This is obviously very new and very clean.....I am really taken by this oil and while I have no real experience with genuine Kinam.....this just gives me satisfaction smelling from the vial only....but I shall have to hold off on nuances as not good at discerning them at this point....but this is staying on the table beside me for now as it smells so good..

Habz' new Hitam Qadeem & sample of his new Hindi - Tajmahal
Tajmahal - very strong, super clean new-style oil which is very good, definitely on the same level as the Al Jannah oils by him.
The Hitam scent has practically gone - didn't seem too strong at first but maybe 4-5hrs onwards and I can't pick up any scent from the back of my hand. Lovely while it lasted though. Not a typical Malaysian, it's codistilled with Thai oil and I can't pick up the individual aspect of each, but they blended really well and created a unique aroma.
What a rubbish description 🤣

I'm sure my perception to it is a bit off and the next time I wear this in a few days'/weeks' time I'll get more from it.

Olefaktory’s Cultivated Kinam Oil

Second swipe.

I’ve always had this silly notion that Kinam may not be Agarwood, that it is an aromatic classification of it’s own, but this oil smells like oud, Incense Grade Oud for sure, so I guess Kinam is Agarwood.

Okay, I’m getting a menthol effect. I remember smelling it in EO’s Basic Kinam also. Is it a Kinam thing? Is it part and parcel of the Kinamic Note? But then there was some of it in ASO’s Halawa, and some camphorous aromas in some other oils I’ve tried.

Anyhow, I’m early into this swipe and will keep enjoying it for now✌️

Okay, I’m getting Mint. I remember smelling mint in EO’s Basic Kinam also. Is it a Kinam thing? Is Mint part and parcel of the Kinamic Note? But then there was a mintiness in ASO’s Halawa, and some camphorous aromas in some other oils I’ve tried.

Is this the new batch or the prior? I didn’t smell mint in the sample I have - but there was a pronounced floral note like violet or acacia

Is it mint or just a cooling note that Is resembling it?

About minty/camphorous oils, I have an aged cambodi oil from the local house, Jamal Kazura. Typically soaked aged Cambodi, except a beautiful cooling camphor that runs along the whole pyramid. Extremely calming.

I've experienced mint and camphor in some Indonesian oils. But never in any another Cambodi.

@Sproaty
Vague resemblance to prince William in your new avatar Sproaty.....🙂

Received the samples thanks to @Habz786 . Tried the Hindi ALJANAH 3. My first clean no-barn Hindi. Let me say the description is spot on on the website.

It is an incredibly complex and beautiful oil. It is an Indian profile with a lot of Chinese Sinensis undertones. Got long legs.

Top- slight bitterness, raiboos, pungent lacquer, slither of Malaysian nuttiness
Mid - hay in warm sunshine, Indian fruits but no sourness, Chinese flowers and powdery profile.
Drydown - warmth and hay. Sweetness of Indian wood on low heat.

Reminds me of legendary oils like Meiti 2006 and Hainan 2005. At these price points, an absolute bargain

I just tried @EJayB's Cultivated Kinam for the first time today and so far I don't get mint on my skin - though most ouds have a bit of menthol effect for me when first applied, a kind of bracing, astringent nostril clearing element like when sniffing alcohol or vicks vaporub - and that is here for sure. But I get more of a dry barky/nutty/woody thing that I relate to walnut shells and to cassia bark, and I get a refreshing sweet undertone like melon rind which grows as it dries.

Its a very nice oil and 1 bottle remains! If anyone wants it PM me at a special price. Our next Hindi offering is Tajmahal, this has a interesting flavour with a unique gentle sweet hay barn, tobbaco, more incense and a shed load more. I preffer it over the Aljanah3 so that should say alot about it 😎 if anyone wishes to sample it 0.15g would be 37$ shipped.

Yes, a menthol effect is more accurate.
