Wearing a wild Vietnamese by Royal Bengal Oud. Fantastic stuff - sweet, golden and smooth beyond belief. I've gone full-on with my application - 2 big swipes to the back of both hands, rubbed together gently and dabbed under my chin, and a big swipe on the back of my neck wiped over by one wrist and then dabbed onto the other wrist. Big scent.

Finally able to wear this one, which Marius generously added to an order some weeks ago.
It's an amazing oil with just an idea of funk. I get incense, honey and hay, very delicious and satisfying.
Sadly sold out already, but ofc well deserved and my own fault that I#m late tothe party ;(

Tried Wild Thai Khao Yai 2021 from Rising Phoenix. It opens with jammy sweetness and petrol like typically seen in Thai oils, but that quickly fades away - like in a few minutes. The jammy sweetness turned to be on and off in the background all along. The smell turns into a greenish coolness with a hint of incense. A little numbing too. Like a breeze in a jungle. Nice and subtle, I really like it.

ASO Leen and Habzoud Z2

It’s like a lesson in curing.
Zamarad 2 has raw unabashed top notes, but somehow devoid of still notes as far as I can tell.
Leen, through curing has shaved off a lot of volatile components, except for some mentholic coolness, but to me it’s more like a kinamic coolness.
At drydown both oils are similar but not identical.

Leen has green twigs and young flower buds, the kinamic coolness, bitter oud, and at some point a touch of candy flower. Gentle spoken but consistent.

Z2 will wear like a spritz of an Oud Edp, and is quite a ride till drydown.

Good to have both.

Today I'm wearing a new release from Ensar Oud called Melayya. I saw it announced by email and noticed that the price was right, so I gave it the blind buy treatment. Curiously, I note that it already has disappeared from the website ... I'm not sure if it is still available for sale.

Right upon application, it lets loose with notes of cool smoke. It's gentle and inviting with a touch of incense flavor, not acrid or harsh. I don't detect any hint of sour or chocolate-y or barn notes upon opening — it begins steadfastly charcoal.

Close to an hour after application, the scent begins to warm and open up remarkably. A hay note approaches, not quite what reaching I'd call "barnyard" territory, but hinting at it instead. The smoke and incense notes lessen and the fragrance begins to round as a whole.

Later, closer to two hours after application, I detect what I call the "plasticky" note. I've smelled this particular note in ouds before and although it sounds strange, I absolutely love it. Here again, I find this note subdued, not loud and not dominant — a delightful addition to the mix.

As I wear it now, I notice it still developing, perhaps toward a more familiar smoked-wood note typical of oud.

This is a delightful oil especially at the price I paid. Lovely stuff.
