Haflong Qinam - wow. Stunning drydown here. I went for a walk just now with my nose glued to my wrist. Upon swipe, very very faint barn which quickly recedes.
4 Emperors - a co-distill of 4 regions - Filippino - Sri Lankan - Indian - Hainan. I have to say that none of these profiles jump out as the primary one, there's a definite note of the Indian hay-type smell running through this and with a very mild barn note from the initial swipe. This is a rich and deep oil, very impressive.

It's been ages since I've tried anything by JK and the recent oils I've smelled are all hitting the mark. Good stuff 🙂

I have both oils too and Haflong is one of my all time favourites precisely for its drydown - I find it to be phenomenal as it progresses throughout the day.

Sampling this CK distillate from Mohammed (@AlHindOud) - thank you kindly! - has proven to be a unique experience. Aside from some Co2 oil, this is my only opportunity with distilled CK, and whoa, it's remarkable! My 1st impression, pleasantly surprising, and not what I expected. On skin, it first resembled a no soak Hindi, displaying a subtle sweetness that gradually unfolded into vibrant white florals. A touch of indolic sweetness contributes to a radiant Jasmine accord, harmonizing with a light Frankincense-like resin and spice, evoking a pleasing candy-like quality. In the late dry-down, a cooling and invigorating breeze, CK on the heater exuding a refreshingly cool, minty aura.

I'm covered in Kepi by Rising Phoenix again. The oil had leaked and it had got over my other samples, and there was oil inside the sealed plastic baggie that the samples were packed in, so I wiped down the other samples, and wiped the inside of the baggie clean...and applied liberally.
This is VERY good. I can't really put it into words. It's sweet, supple, light (in texture) and just downright beautiful.

Very interesting that you say you find it supple! Fascinating how we can view scents differently - I love strong oils and I found this to be one of the strongest oils I've ever smelt, possibly too strong for me. It's a great oil, no doubt, but one drop is enough for me lol.

That alone. Smelling colors and memories, wtf? 😀 add to it that the next day, we smell something more, or different or experience it in another way.

Al-Hind: Vintage Cambodi

This thing is so addictive that I keep wanting to open the vial just to sniff it. I think I found my favorite genre of oud--Cambodian oud distilled à la Hindi style. Ripe smashed berries, oozing molasses, oud-liquor, and the barn is just so smooth and delicious.

Malaysian tonight. Two top tier oils

EO Purple Kinam— The rep of this oil proceeds it of course. I find this oil unlike any others I’ve ever encountered, except one. There’s this very “fruity” element in the top notes which is so interesting. Drying down it becomes more of a recognizable Oud, and turns to a very nice woody note. I would say this oil is a major credit to the distiller. Has a lot of similarities to Guallam Liquide in the opening I think. For some reason, makes my nose run like crazy (so does Guallam Liquide), but makes the hairs on my neck stand up.

Agar Aura Cintaku— I’ve already spoken reverently about it. Personally Cintaku is one of the most perfect Ouds I have ever encountered. To me it has a psychological “welling up” factor which is so so addictive. I can’t get enough of it-makes all things right in the world. A really rare phenomenon with any experience. Some day I would really like to try Royal Malaya as I’ve heard it’s a level up from this, and for me, it’s hard to imagine anything being above this. On the level, maybe… above would be unreal. Some day.

All in all, I feel very fortunate to have both of these to put side by side, both are so special. Malay Oud can be sooooo good.

AlHindOud - Hindi Gold 2022

I recently purchased the AlHind sampler set and this was one of the oils included. I'll be posting a full review of that set soon. This oil was by far my favorite of the group. Pretty much every new gen hindi agallocha oil I've tried has been enjoyable and this is no exception. Its sweet, has some florals and some darker notes and then that wonderful agallocha drydown that is just so nice. I very rarely purchase full grams of oud but this is one I wanted some more of. I have to say Mohammed is my favorite vendor here. You get great oils at a great price from someone who is humble, sends out their orders quick, answers all my questions and even distills his own oils. What more could one ask for?
