wow 3 years, what made you resist it for so long?!
Well, I bought it right before I went on a long oud hiatus. Then, it just never felt like the right time for something that smelled so perfect and pristine from the bottle.

I mean, just a smell from the bottle shoots straight to the brain, piercing the pleasure receptors and floods my senses with euphoria.

Sounds like one heck of an oil. Perhaps I should shell out for it.

Regarding JK: I hope his brand isn't banned, as I also hope your not mentioning if you're wearing one of his oils is banned. While looking for muattar, I found four bottles of his attars, filled to the tippy-top, that I might just give them a go.

He and I, well, we didn't share the same government policies, which is something that IS banned from the boards....talking about politics. Rightfully so. This is where I come to communicate with my fellow brothers and sisters about scents—our most primal sense.

These four attar bottles I found were from 2017 to 2003. I wonder if they are any good. Though I wish they were ouds. I suppose I used to have lots of cash as his stuff was, and continues to be, quite pricey. I suspect he will have a sale soon.

He's got Kinabalu Gold 2 available now, which I think is an even higher grade oil.

What exactly is cool about that scumbag?
He sells, procures, and distills Oud oils that are remarkably high Quality along with some of the best sandalwood on the market. I dunno. He was considered top tier a week ago?

I’m not up to date on the drama. But I won’t be disparaged for enjoying oud oil from vendors who were on this forum.

Unless it’s against the rules to speak about JK’s oils why don’t you bother someone else?

Malay Ultimé - Faizal Privée

Another Frankfurt purchase…picked up a gram. I need to spend more time with it, but these are my first impressions.

Opens with an all-encompassing, multidimensional sense of menthol - not just a single note, but manifold, layered facets of what mint is as a substance. Under this are medicinal notes, bitter quinine, aromatic barks.

On the drydown it turns more playful, with a sweet note of bubblegum. The medicinal notes settle into this singular note that I can only describe as Coca-Cola syrup - like you got some cola and boiled off all the water. Interesting stuff.

Enjoying a swipe of this one batch of broadlink CK distillate. One was excellent, the second batch of the same oil was mediocre. They could not tell me what the difference was because as far as they knew everything was the same other than the batch and age. The smell is so different it's a little hard to believe that it is from the same material processed in the same way... but time can I have a large effect and it is possible that it's just a matter of aging the new oil.

But back to the oil, this first sample was excellent with complex woody facets no bizarre plastic or pungent distractions, a beautiful woody earthy balance that almost brings the presence of vetiver to mind, excellent progression and dry down with a long scintillating woody tail.

Maybe one out of five cultivated kinam oils I have smelled is appealing like this - I guess this is a very difficult material to extract properly? The low quality in Kinam oils are truly unappealing - it is a strange market.

I am following up with Broadlink today and trying to see if they can provide sampling with commitment to batch /quality control… in other words sending a sample and then following up with a similar oil when you order a larger batch. This is a very basic thing and even if there's variation from batch to batch with oud it's not too hard to manage - don't send out samples to new customers for a product you're basically out of, and if you are stuck sending them something that you know has a very different aroma (that was the case here because they notified me after shipping that the batch might be different) offer them an opportunity to sample it before making a purchase. I don't think it was deliberate but it would be possible to interpret my experience as a bait and switch, and I'm trying to get that nailed down today otherwise I can't really recommend the source.

Tabeer Oud Sultan Altamash

It does smell aged, and how does the dark color come about🧐
There’s fruits, resin, wood, tobacco, milk chocolate, a hint of coffee, all in a cloak of their essence. Some barn, but that’s aged too.
A very nice specimen👌

Did you find it similar to OM5? I got hints of OM5 from it. Got a few oils to try from @Tabeer_Oud looking foward to applying them, off the dipstick all smelt high quality!
