Habz' Al Jannah 3 on one hand, and Taj Mahal on t'other.
They are quite different yet similar 😅🥰 TM has a slight barn in the background, AJ#3 is very golden and bright. I'm trying to think how it compares to AJ#1 (not tried #2) and it is different, but having not worn the original in a while I'm struggling to articulate the differences.

Habz Caliph
Habz Jaya Qadeem

Both very deep oils.

So much going on in the opening of Caliph, like fireworks for the first half hour. Will need many wears. Drydown reminds me of EO TIgerwood Royale (a smell I have no good word for, though I'll try: cooked milk with nutmeg and clothes stored in an attic). I wonder what they might have in common, since I've not smelled this in any other oils I've tried.

Jaya Q blasts off from a tiny drop. It reminds me of JS Royal Merauke, similar dark and sour molasses thing going on. Coffee and furniture and other good stuff. A nice shadowy bitterness comes out as it dries.

Habzoud Oud Caliph on one arm, Sabah Khmer on the other one. A tiny spot on my wrist for Jaya qadeem because I have zero patience. 🤣🤣🤣

Sabah Khmer has a very familiar ‘first swipe’ scent but I’m horrible at describing. It’s really addictive!

Jaya is a bit cooling and warm at the same time, and very woody, and it’s only there for half an hour (?) and the dot is not big enough by far to quench my thirst. I have a feeling I’ll fall head over heels for this one.

I must admit I have to get used to oud caliph a little. My beginner nose picks up something animal. Two hours in, these tones are disappearing and the scent becomes soothing. I need more time to understand this oil for sure! (If anyone has this oil and wants to share notes that I SHOULD pick up, please let me know 🙂 )

Habz' Hojari Sultan. A smokey Indonesian oil, I struggle to "get" the frankincense in this - I'm familiar with burning it, and its essential oil which I find quite lemony/piney, but I don't detect that in this blend.
I'm generally not a fan of smokey ouds but this is definitely within my tolerance level - I'm enjoying it

I didn't get an association to Tigerwood Royale with Caliph BTW

Very enjoyable smokey oud, sweet-bitter and balanced smokey with fruits and Cambodi goodness.
I don’t have Cambodi smoke (yet!! Ha!!!) but if anyone owns both Pursat Maliki and Cambodi Smoke, how do these compare? Maliki is absolute love for me. 🥰
(Not sure if this thread is the right place to ask for a comparison?)

I own both but can't recall the smilarities

I'm on a big Habz spree lately - don't think I've worn out by anyone else for 2-3 weeks
Today's his Aceh Ateeq 🙂

Cambodi Smoke on the left wrist
Pursat Maliki on the right wrist.

Asseessed comparatively.

At first application I can sense that slight lactonic quality in both oils.
C S seems to project a little more, is more woody, and has that incensy smoke with a touch of ash but no dark or burnt smell.
P M is sweet with resin, and has a clear expression of the agarwood it was distilled from.
The regional profile is similar in both oils, but not identical.

If you feel the need for an incensy Cambodi oud oil, without being too dark and smokey like Ensar’s Aroha series, then C S is a sure bet. I feel that Cambodi Smoke is closer to Altaws regarding the regional profile.

Last note…. No barn and no booze in all 3
( CS PM Altaws )

I’m waiting for somebody to post a review of the $14,000 kinam oil/extract Al Sharif recently added to their lineup!
